UAF Student Ceramics Art Guild

UAF Student Ceramics Art Guild SCAG is a group of UAF ceramic students that are committed to sharing the art of clay! We look forward to meeting fellow students and mud junkies!

We're the students of the ceramics studio at the University of Alaska Fairbanks! We help coordinate visiting artists and presenters, as well as generate funds, from the pottery sale, to help support three ceramic art scholarships. We also participate in the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser that helps our local food bank.

About S**G:
The Student Ceramic Arts Guild (S**G) is a vibrant, student-run group of UAF ceramic students and community members dedicated to sharing the art and craft of clay. S**G regularly hosts public presentations and workshops with world-renowned ceramic artists, along with pottery sales, fundraisers and community initiatives. These extracurricular experiences are open to both students and the wider community, fostering creativity, learning and connection through the ceramic arts.

About UAF Ceramics:
The Ceramics program at UAF offers a comprehensive, hands-on education in clay, supporting students from beginner to advanced levels. With access to well-equipped studios, kiln facilities and experienced faculty, students explore wheel throwing, handbuilding and experimental approaches while developing strong technical and conceptual skills. The program encourages creative exploration, collaboration and engagement with the broader arts community. Come see visiting artist Dawn Holder next week at the UAF Ceramics Studio! She'll be demonstrating Tuesday 10/21 & Wednesday 10/22, 10am-4pm. and giving a lecture about her work on Tuesday evening, 6-7pm. This is free and open to the public and should be lots of fun. On Wednesday she's planning a "slip dip experience" - bring in thin, flexible, and absorbent objects (dried plants and flowers) and we'll get to coat them in porcelain slip.
