The International Museum of Art, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization, is located in the heart of El Paso’s historic Rio Grande District. The building, a Victorian style mansion designed by architect Henry C. Trost, was owned by State Senator William Turney and his wife Iva, a prominent El Paso family who resided in the home from 1909 to 1939. Following Senator Turney’s death, Mrs. Turney donated the property to the City of El Paso. Honoring the wishes of the Senator and Mrs. Turney – that their former home always be used for the arts- the Turney mansion became the home of the International Museum of Art.

🎆 El Paso Giving Day 2026 is in Four Days! 🎆

The International Museum of Art is proud to offer affordable rental spaces to local artists and art collectives. This year we were honored to feature artists like Vanessa Clark Designs, Nina Cobb Walker , Krystyna Robbins Studio and Workshops , and Woz Art, as well as organizations like the Soldier Art Workshop, El Paso Community College’s Senior Adult Program and Stress Relief through the Arts.

These stunning shows highlighted the amazing art being created in our community right now. We thank our local artists who shared their vision with our Museum and community. We are grateful to be a part of the vibrant and growing art community in El Paso.

In 2026, we had the honor of representing over 100 local artists across 3 different shows, all bringing a distinct vision to our Museum. We are grateful for the support of our artists as we continue to grow our vibrant art community.

📣Join us and Unity Through Creativity Foundation on October 10 from 2:00-4:00 pm as we unveil the Window to the World Singing Tree Mural in its permanent home at the IMoA!

🎨There will be light refreshments and drop-in activities for families. We can’t wait to see you there!

🕊This August, the IMoA and Unity Through Creativity partnered to explore global culture and heritage through art. Together, they hosted a community gallery featuring work by local artists and Unity Through Creativity facilitated a mural project, in the gallery “A ‘Forest’ of Singing Tree Murals.”

🌳All August long, community members were able to contribute to the mural, sharing their ideas in the design process and bringing it to fruition by painting and adding their stories to it. Now completed, the mural will be installed at the Museum for all to enjoy.

The International Museum of Art is proud to welcome our newest collection, “Sue Koenig’s Window to the World” to the Museum! Featuring 10,000 items from across 110 different countries, collected in a span of about 30 years. You can our “Africa and Middle East Gallery” today to experience the collection for yourself

Stay tuned for our upcoming Mobile Museum, launching this school year! Drawing from the museum’s 10,000 plus piece collection, the Mobile Museum transforms a carefully curated selection of global artifacts into a fully mobile, immersive learning experience. It will bring the world to El Paso’s students, one school at a time.

As a community-driven institution, we depend on the support of our members, donors and people like you to continue making art accessible to all. We ask that you please help us reach our goal of $7,500. $7,500 will support 657 hours of our operations; that nearly a month of keeping the Museum free and open to the public! A donation of just $11.41 supports an entire hour of our work; $274.00 will care for an entire day.

Beginning in 1949 as the Sun Carnival Art Exhibit, it is one of the longest running juried art shows in the American Southwest. Our 77th annual Sun Bow Art Exhibit will be another stunning showcase of our region’s artistic vision. The 2025 Sun Bowl was one of our largest to date, featuring 97 local artists. We hope that this year's show will be an even grander celebration of El Paso's creativity.
