Overview
Since retiring in 2008, Gary Argabright has chosen a number of topics of personal interest as research projects --- bifurcated base ppks, the lost mounds of Chillicothe’s “northwest quadrant,” the Spetnagle Turkeytail Cache, the Liberty Earthworks, The Hopeton Works, ...
Gary’s latest project is based upon using old newspaper accounts to record the discovery of mammoth and mastodon remains across the state of Ohio. At present, he has documented some 175 different finds ranging from leg bones, tusks, skulls and teeth to nearly intact skeletons. Tonight’s program will focus on three discovery sites in southeastern Pickaway and northeastern Ross Counties and their proximity to known local Paleoindian fluted point sites.

Solid advice.
Not only add names to photos. Remember to add names and information to all your artifacts that is of importance to be identified. Remembering is the key not to be forgotten.

Two unidentified young women. Based on the hairstyles and stylish clothing, this image dates to around 1870.

Let this serve as a warning to you! You don't want a picture of your loved ones ending up in our archives and being called "unidentified." Make sure you label your paper photos (in pencil!) and add names and dates to the meta data of digital photos.

Please be kind to the photo archivists of the future!
