Yesterday at BUZZ THE GARDEN we had help harvesting potatoes, turnips, beets, and onions. We weighed the squash and built a scarecrow. At the crafts table a lot of bugs were made. And everyone seemed to enjoy the ice cream truck. We'd like to thank all the participating organizations and everyone who stopped by.

Today as the Deerfield Park District celebrates its 75th anniversary in Jewett Park we look back at the early efforts to acquire the land for Deerfield's first park. It is interesting to read in Ruth Pettis's letter that 3 times a park district in Deerfield had been voted down.
