The first image dates from the 1930s and shows the trail tree in the Colony Point area of Deerfield, the image has been digitally enhanced and colorized. The second image of the Bannockburn tree appeared in the July 5, 1956 issue of the Deerfield Review. The third image of the Riverwoods tree has no date recorded.

This clipping from our files is not dated but most likely from the Deerfield Review sometime in the 1950s. The address puts it directly across Waukegan Rd from the Deerfield Cemetery, which was founded in 1858 on land purchased from Philemon Cadwell. Nelson's father Sidney Hall was the first secretary of the Cemetery Association. Nelson Hall was a veteran of the Civil War.

The cover of the 1979 Deerfield Telephone Directory featured a photo of the Ott Log House which at the time was one of only two buildings on the Historic Village site. The Chicago Tribune article appeared in the Sunday July 7, 1968 edition, on May 23, 1971 the Ott House was formally dedicated. The Brand Luther House joined the Ott House in January of 1977, followed by the Sack House in June of 1980. The Deerfield Lions Club constructed a typical one room schoolhouse (circa 1895-1905) in 1981 and the final building was the Carriage House completed in 1984 which was constructed with mostly salvaged material, locally sourced.
