Spring Hours starting Wednesday, April 1! ☀️🌷

The Adams Museum will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

The museums welcome groups of 10 or more with advance reservations. For group tour information, please call 605-722-4800.

Milton E. Pinney brought the first stamp mill to Black Hills in 1876. He purchased the 10-stamp mill in Colorado. It was transported by train to Cheyenne, Wyoming, before completing the final leg to Central City by mule freight. Construction of the mill was completed on December 31, 1876. The mill processed ore from the Alpha and Omega mines on the south side of Deadwood Creek. - Adams Museum Collection

These cream-colored cotton gloves belonged to Deadwood resident Winnifred Shama. Featuring delicate stitching and a pleated decorative pattern on the back, they were given to her as a Christmas gift by her husband in the 1960s. – Adams Museum Collection

This coat was a cherished Christmas gift from her husband to Winnifred Shama during the 1960s. The Shamas were well-known in the region; together they built the Lariat Motel in 1947, contributing to Deadwood’s mid-century hospitality landscape. – Adams Museum Collection
