Welcome back, everyone, to Day 28 of Anything but a Paintbrush! today's picker wheel landed on shirt, and I didn't know what to paint so for the first time in this series I've spun the second wheel for subjects. that landed on "bowl of fruit with w**e", but I didn't have w**e so I just painted fruit. I'm really in love with this shirt painting-- the jersey cloth really did an amazing job as a paintbrush.
Also for the first time in the series, I spun the wheel early to tease tomorrow's work. I'll be painting with Bandaids tomorrow, so be sure to hit the follow button if you're new so you don't miss it.
Thank you guys for helping me reach 500 followers (on wikwok) so quickly! I'm blown away by your support.
Hey Instagram-- can we catch up?
I'm planning to drop the first set of 30 paintings available (as prints only) this weekend on my website (link in bio).
If I can reach 1,000 followers on that t app I'll go live and auction these originals! I'm thinking of starting the bids super low for original oil paintings (think $30-40)-- so be sure you're following not only to help me be able to do that but also for your chance to snag some fun originals at really great prices.

You guys are making this project way more fun than I really thought it would be. I can't say how much I appreciate it!

It's Day number 27 of using things you all commented instead of a paintbrush as an exercise in letting go of details and speeding up my painting process.
My painting process lately has been evolving in the best ways through this . today, I celebrated Fall by staging fresh harvested fruits and vegetables and painting them. I can't wait to bake these into side dishes and pies this month!
Celery made a darn good paintbrush. big thanks to you first 102 commenters who filled the wheel!
only 75 paintings left!
make sure you're commenting painting subjects/ideas within the theme "everyday life/home"
see you tomorrow!

it's Day 25 of Anything But a Paintbrush! I put 100 comments onto a giant picker wheel and every day I'm making myself use whatever comes up instead of a paintbrush! I can't believe I'm already a quarter of the way through this series! you guys have been incredible and I'm so glad everyone is enjoying the work!
be sure to follow this account so you don't miss the rest of the paintings (and the eventually live event that will follow the series!)
see you guys tomorrow!

It's Day 24 of Anything but a paintbrush! today's painting was painted by a painting painting!
I mean the painting painted the painting. I painted a painting with the help of a painting painting.
the painting that the other painting painted was like the recipeocal of its painter painting.
things happened with paint.
see you tomorrow

Why don’t you get a real job?
Because I can't stop being captivated by everything long enough to work for someone.
I cry over the silhouettes of trees against October skies. I'm late because of the bruised, heavy purple of a storm cloud passing over the roof. How are you supposed to clock into a customer service role when every third stranger you meet carries an entire universe behind their eyes? How am I supposed to concentrate when the sun is shining? Or when the rain is falling into perfect little puddles?

I have had "real jobs". In fact, I've been a retail employee, a gas station clerk, a receptionist, a barista, a housekeeper, an insurance agent, and a nursing aide before. I showed up to each distracted and sometimes crying. One time I got sent home from work because an oil pipeline was approved through beautiful, untouched wilderness and I couldn't hold my s**t together. I was trying so hard to do what normal people do and just work my job, but silent tears were falling and when anyone asked me why I would wail on about ground water and the infinite greed of humanity....🫠

For years, I treated this tenderness like a defect. I thought having thin skin was...a liability in a world that praises efficiency, armor, and speed. I tried to dial it down, tried to numb the edges. The world is MARVELOUS, pardon me for marvelling.
Sometimes I can't pass a rock on a path and go on with my afternoon. Some days I can't stop myself but to think much deeper about it. Did a flash flood carry it down from a creek bed thirty-five thousand years ago? Has it spent millennia waiting right here in this spot? Holding heat beneath the midday sun, shivering in subzero frost while buried under inches of silent snow, only to emerge every spring a fraction of a microgram lighter from centuries of rain? How long? Has anyone ever acknowledged the rock before? I could lose hours to this.
I'm drawn to the energy of objects and systems in a way that doesn't allow me to behave as a normal employee, and that's ok. Money is tight, of course! But I make so much more than money. I speak from my soul when I say that I came here to make art, not money.

I'm back for Day 23 of Anything but a Paintbrush! today's Picker wheel winner was "the paint tubes" and I had higher expectations, but I'm still glad for what happened and what I was able to learn from it.
when you're painting "wet on wet", it's imperative that you pay attention to the order of what you're layering. I could have planned this better-- but that's what experimenting is all about! this painting is less about the flowers I saw on my walk this morning and more about the lessons I learned painting vibrant flowers and foliage against a dark but dimensional field.
Help me reach 1,000 followers so I can sell these works for less than my usual price! If I hit my first 1000 followers I can start going live! and if I can go live, not only can you watch me paint live with objects you request but I can hold auction events where you guys can buy artwork for a fraction of its usual cost.

hit those buttons for me and I can't wait to paint for you tomorrow.
dm me for commissions-- I've finished up my last order! my commissions are once again open and I love to bring your ideas to life.

I'm working hard to build my social media following...
I'm completely new to this game and really learning as I go. I had an idea for this series, Anything but a Paintbrush, when I was thinking about how much fun I had in art school when the professor made us paint with only our palette knives.
I never thought it would turn into the fun and challenge that it's become-- and I never thought the paintings were going to feel this resolved or cohesive! I'm surprising myself as much as I am you guys, and I'm so glad I decided to start here when learning to post content.
Thank you, early followers, for your encouragement and support during this foreign time. All your feedback in the comments and from likes and saves and shares really helps me learn and grow.
22 days down-- 78 more to go! I'm off to a slow start today, but ABAP is on its way to you! (Spoiler: today I'm painting with the paint tubes themselves!)

It's Day 22 of Anything but a Paintbrush! Today I used this soda can to capture the sunrise my daughter and I have been looking at lately. Be sure to follow along-- 78 more paintings are coming in this series! Thank you all for commenting and for being here.

Welcome back to Anything But a Paintbrush! it's Day 21, and today's object was a Q-tip! this suggestion was put onto the wheel by a fellow artist and I'm so grateful for her submission because it was a welcome break after painting with bowls of soup and gardening tools.
I can't wait to spin the wheel tomorrow and see what it brings! I hope you guys are enjoying this series as much as I'm enjoying making it.
the subject of this painting is Dogwood Pond, which is a very special place to my family. I hope y'all love the painting-- I know I do.
