Join us THIS THURSDAY, October 15, at 6:30 PM at the Putnam Museum for Murderabilia: A History of Crime in 100 Objects, presented by renowned true-crime historian Harold Schechter.
Designed for an audience interested in true crime and American history, this program explores real historical crimes, notorious criminals, and the objects connected to their stories. Using artifacts, newspaper clippings, court records, and other primary sources, Schechter examines America’s enduring fascination with murder.

What does a museum do with a collection of roughly 250,000 objects?

At the Putnam Museum, many of them can be seen inside The Vault. Visitors walk between floor-to-ceiling glass cases filled with masks, figurines and objects from around the world.

It’s a fascinating way to see parts of a museum collection that would normally remain hidden in storage. And it’s only one section of this surprisingly large Davenport museum.
