Calling all Porsche enthusiasts!
On Saturday, August 29th, join automotive historian, author, and Porsche Club of America Historian Jay Gillotti for two engaging presentations exploring Porsche’s history, engineering, and legendary racing heritage.
10:30 AM | Porsche Decades: A History of the Marque
Travel through the history of Porsche, from its earliest beginnings to the iconic sports cars of today. Based on Jay’s book Porsche Decades, this presentation will explore the Porsche family, the company’s prewar and postwar projects, its evolving model lineup, the Porsche type-numbering system, and many of its most significant road and racing cars.
A Q&A session will follow.
1:30 PM | 936 at 50: Celebrating a Racing Icon
Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 936, one of the marque’s greatest endurance racing machines. Although often overshadowed by the 917 and the later 956 and 962, the 936 earned an extraordinary legacy with a World Sports Car Championship and three victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Drawing from years of research for his book Secret Spyder: The Porsche 936 Story, Jay will explore the design, development, and competition history of the 936, along with the remarkable stories behind the five chassis ever built.
