The Spirit of the Old West Gallery is dedicated to presenting a balanced narrative of both Native Americans and American Settlers—depicting their challenges, their successes and failures, their ways of life. These inspiring stories make up the larger American Story, and the Blackhawk Museum wishes to educate and entertain while preserving these important histories for future generations. The Art of Africa Gallery brings the beauty and folklore of sub-Saharan African culture to life through wooden sculpture, ceremonial ritual, and music. The Into China Gallery features exceptional reproductions and fine works of art from China, including the Imperial Dragon Throne and an intricate model of the Forbidden City. The World of Nature Gallery is focused on educating visitors about the incredible diversity of nature and the need to protect and nurture our environment. Parking is FREE at the Blackhawk Museum.

Five decades photographing the planet for TIME, National Geographic, and Vanity Fair. In America at 250, Stephen Wilkes brings that work together in a visual retrospective on the people, places, and moments that have shaped the nation.

Join us for the second night of our Changemaker Speaker Series on Thursday, October 8, when Wilkes takes the Blackhawk Museum stage with America at 250.

In America’s 250th anniversary year, he brings that work together in a visual retrospective on the people, places, and moments that have shaped the nation, reflecting on resilience, innovation, and unity.

This Sunday, September 27, we welcome the Distinguished Gentleman’s Drive to the courtyard.
 
Classic cars and elegant style, uniting for prostate cancer and men’s mental health in support of Movember. The Drive is an on-road motoring fundraiser bringing together vehicles built 40 years or older, encouraging drivers and passengers around the world to dress dapper and drive for men’s health. One day. One drive. Twenty-four hours of distinguished gentlefolk circling the globe.
 
Stop by the courtyard during your visit to see around 20 participating classic vehicles on display.

The “Indiana Jones of Paleontology” and head of The Fossil Lab at the University of Chicago, Dr. Paul Sereno, takes the stage this Thursday at the Blackhawk Museum.

In Astonishing Dinosaurs, he shares highlights from his most recent Sahara expedition, which uncovered 55 tons of fossils including a Spinosaurus skull and previously unknown species.

38 years ago today, Blackhawk Museum opened its doors for the first time.

What began as a celebration of the artistry and craftsmanship of the automobile has grown into five galleries spanning automobiles, art, history, and nature, and a community that has grown right alongside it.

To our staff, members, volunteers, docents, school groups, and everyone who has walked through our doors over the years: thank you. This museum is what it is because of you.
