Dublin celebrated the 1976 Bicentennial with parades, festivities and a "hoedown dance." A teacher from Frederiksen School captured the Dublin parade with these images of students walking down Amador Valley Blvd.

Bicentennial activities took place on Saturday, July 3 and Sunday, July 4. A local newspaper identified some the events. They included an "18th Century Faire at the Shannon Community Center. The Dublin-San Ramon Bicentennial Committee presented on Saturday, July 3, from 9 p.m. – 1 a.m., Chuck Wayne and his “authentic western band” for a hoedown. Tickets were 75 cents and available at the Dublin Chamber of Commerce. On Sunday, July 4, at 4:30 p.m., the San Leandro Municipal Band performed. Festivities began at 10 a.m. and continued to 6 p.m. at Shannon Community Park.

We hope your 250th anniversary activities are just as fun, and memorable.

Does anyone have photographs of the "Tri-City Racing Team" or know where or when they raced locally? Any information about the team or Viscovich Motors would be appreciated.

As you enjoy the Memorial Day weekend, please remember Dublin's fallen. Master Sergeant Charles Lester Robbins, US Army, was one of two Dublin residents known to have died during the Vietnam War. This plaque can be found at Frederiksen School. Originally the plaque and a tree were emplaced during a ceremony sometime after his death in 1967. According to another local resident, his family lived on Brighton Drive and his children attended Frederiksen.

Happy Easter to those that celebrate it. Here's a program of events for Shoemaker Naval Hospital during World War II. It includes Spring images. Shoemaker Naval Hospital was located in what is now Dublin, roughly near Emerald Glen Park. The hospital had 3,000 beds and took care of the wounded and sick from Camp Parks (Parks Reserve Forces Training Area) and Camp Shoemaker.
