“While replacing a light fixture at my home, I encountered a lighting store whose entrance was framed by vertical displays of living plants. The interplay of plant forms and light in that moment proved unexpectedly arresting. Vertical Communion reflects my attempt to preserve that experience and translate it into paint.”

This is your third and final prompt for our next Visiting Artists Show “Evidence of a Human Touch.”

We have pulled quotes from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland as windows into the human experience. The odd, the unexpected, the magical.

We’re not looking for art that retells this classic but art that represents your story and your voice in your medium.

We’ll be taking applications in November ahead of the January 23rd opening. For now, register an expression of interest to be kept up to date with the application process.

How does the possible sit beside the impossible in your artwork? We can’t wait to see it.

Chapter 2 of the ALG Fine Art Visiting Artists Show, Belief.

Believing in what can’t yet be seen is one way to describe the creative process. In this second prompt for our next Visiting Artists Show “Evidence of a Human Touch,” we invite you to embrace this belief and express what it means to you. 

“Evidence of a Human Touch” is inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Not as a literal retelling of the book but in how it explores the curiosities of the human experience.

The scale is wrong. The rules keep changing. Every character is strange in their own way. 

Ahead of the January 23rd opening, we are taking official applications in November and expressions of interest now (link in bio). This is the best way to stay up to date with how you can be part of the show. 

As an artist, what can you believe into being? We look forward to seeing it.

This is your first prompt to create a piece of artwork for our next Visiting Artists Show “Evidence of a Human Touch” opening January 23rd. 

Applications open in November so we encourage you to start ideating and creating now.

The theme of our next Visiting Artists Show is…

“Evidence of a Human Touch”

With Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland as our frame, this show celebrates artwork that could only have come from the human imagination.

We offer you three points of entry. 

Curiosity, as in looking at the world in an unexpected way.

Belief, as in believing in something makes it so. 

Dreams, as in holding the possible and impossible side by side. 

This show opens on January 23rd but we are opening submissions in November and accepting expressions of interest now. Fill out the expressions of interest form to receive all the details about the show and how to be a part of it. (link in bio)
