NMC presents: 25:11 sclptr | obsrvng
Featuring Mac Pierce, David Challier, and
Kristen Cochran
Opening Reception: November 7, 7-11 PM
Exhibition Dates: November 7 - December 6

Mac Pierce
Mac Pierce creates works that interrogate surveillance, hacking, and weaponized technologies. Using the tools and language of the systems he critiques, his practice exposes the hidden power structures embedded in modern tech culture. Pierce holds a BFA in Studio Art & Design from the University of Idaho and an MFA in Art & Technology Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. His work transforms code, circuitry, and fi****ms into conceptual reflections on control, visibility, and resistance.

David Challier
David Challier divides his practice between Dallas, Texas, and Simiane-La-Rotonde in southern France.
Working in glass and ceramic, he creates objects that feel both ancient and futuristic.
Drawing from geology, architecture, and archaeological processes, Challier fuses natural and industrial materials-rocks, sands, and silts-into layered sculptures that embody tension and transformation. His intricate methods of firing, recycling, and recombining forms reveal a dialogue between organic and mineral metamorphosis, human craft, and natural force.

Kristen Cochran
Kristen Cochran is a Dallas-based artist whose multidisciplinary work explores labor, time, and human resilience through sculpture, print, and installation. Her practice reflects on the humor and hardship embedded in daily work and the search for meaning within material existence. Cochran holds an MFA from Southern Methodist University and teaches at the University of Texas at Dallas. She has exhibited nationally and internationally, including at The Nasher Sculpture Center, Artpace San Antonio, and the NARS Foundation in Brooklyn. Her recent projects examine performance, productivity, and rest as intertwined acts of care and survival.

SONIC IMAGINATION—REFRAMING MUSICAL PROCESS THROUGH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

Join us Thursday September 25th 6p-9p for an AI WORKSHOP AND SALON with Paul Slavens where we’ll explore how ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE is transforming music. This session combines hands-on creation, shared listening, and a focused conversation on the ethical dimensions of AI in art. We’ll examine how these tools challenge notions of authorship, creativity, and responsibility, and discuss how musicians can engage with them thoughtfully.
Bring your own AI compositions, prompt ideas, or simply your curiosity. Together, we’ll experiment, listen, and reflect on how human and machine collaboration can inspire new approaches to musical process.
Come ready to create, question, and imagine.
