LIGHT & SHADOW explores the compelling interplay of illumination with the dark and the way artists use these elements to shape form, create mood, and present dimension. From dramatic contrast and chiaroscuro to the warmth of golden-hour light, subtle shifts in color, and details concealed or revealed in shadow, this exhibition considers light and shadow as powerful compositional and expressive forces. We are looking for smaller thought-provoking creative works that explore how light can reveal texture and pattern, create atmosphere and emotion, transform familiar subjects, or bring unexpected beauty to everyday scenes. No AI accepted.
50 works selected for physical Gallery exhibition.
15 additional works selected for Gallery monitor exhibition.

Donna Corvi's painting, “Windsome” shows us sweeping layers of branches and foliage that seem to depict the restless and persistent winds of today's storm. Through the cool muted tones, passages of light are revealed, suggesting the beauty of the sun's illumination breaking through.

Visit the Gallery next weekend to experience the Arborescent exhibition featuring this stunning painting along with twenty-four additional works by six regional artists.

... Cutchogue, NY

🔹 Dawn Lee’s Terrestrial Series focuses the artist’s attention to Long Island’s landscape, particularly the dense emerging networks of trees and vines on uncultivated land. Within their struggle for light and survival, Dawn is drawn to the tension between apparent chaos and ecological order of arborescent life. Her series combines charcoal drawing with fluid applications of paint where deliberate lines intertwine with loose passages and echo the rhythms, repetition, and the energy she observes in wildly grown places.

🔹 Using acrylics on canvas, Donna Corvi combines tree trunks and branches with layering translucent arborescent “cutouts” that create a rhythmic tension between natural structure and abstraction. Vivid blue openings suggest glimpses of sky that bring light and depth to the intricate composition. While shown as a single piece here, both paintings together create an energetic diptych with an interplay of line, color, and layered form.
