Congratulations to Iris Simpson Bush, who received the Cincinnati Regional Chamber’s Distinguished Alumni Award at the Chamber’s Leadership Center Celebration last night.

The Flying Pig Marathon / Pigworks – and Iris – were Game Day’s first client and we are thrilled for her to be recognized for all our hard work in our community!

A lifelong champion for Cincinnati, Iris helped grow the Flying Pig Marathon into one of the nation’s premier running events and a significant economic driver for the region. During her tenure, she expanded its portfolio of community events while helping local charities raise millions of dollars. She has also been recognized nationally for her leadership in the running industry and locally for her decades of civic engagement and philanthropy.

The event coincided with the kickoff to Leadership Cincinnati, and recognized alumni whose commitment to civic leadership has helped make our region a growing, thriving place where everyone belongs.

⚾ We were honored to team up with Deafinitely For All to share the story of William “Dummy” Hoy ahead of a special celebration at The Banks on Saturday, May 23, for his birthday.

With the help of Hall of Famer, Marty Brennaman, we brought renewed attention to Hoy’s legacy and contributions to the game. Hoy, who was Deaf, played 14 professional seasons in the late 1800s and became one of the era’s most respected leadoff hitters. His presence in the game helped influence the use of hand signals for balls, strikes, safe, and out calls – a system that remains central to baseball more than a century later.

The media outreach and birthday party were part of a larger push to have Hoy inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum.
