Join us this Thursday, October 8, at 6:30 PM for the Myrna and Sheldon Palley Glass Artist Lecture, Pioneering the Narrative: Fifty Years of Glass Artistry with Dan Dailey.

Second-generation Studio Glass artist Dan Dailey reflects on a fifty-year career shaped by narrative humor, formal invention, and wit. He will share insights from his storied journey—from serving as Dale Chihuly’s first graduate student at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), to earning a Fulbright fellowship with Venini in Murano, to founding MassArt’s glass program—while tracing how he has expanded the medium’s organic, process-driven traditions across studio glass and industrial design.

🎟️ This lecture is FREE and open to the public.

Last Thursday, the Lowe welcomed scholars, artists, and community members for Afro-Cuban Art: History and Memory, a compelling conversation exploring the creativity, experiences, and contributions of Afrodescendant communities to Cuban art and its history.

Moderated by Dr. Michael J. Bustamante, the discussion brought together Dr. Alejandro de la Fuente, Dr. Bárbaro Martínez-Ruiz, and artist and professor Juana Valdés to reflect on race, identity, historical memory, artistic practice, and the important role museums, archives, and scholarship play in recovering overlooked histories.

The program also marked a meaningful close to El Pasado Mío / My Own Past: Afrodescendant Contributions to Cuban Art and Afrocubanismo: Highlights from the Ramón and Nercys Cernuda Collection, which have now concluded their run at the Lowe.

Thank you to our panelists, partners, and everyone who joined us for this important conversation and helped us celebrate these exhibitions.

That’s a wrap on another creative camp season at the Lowe! 🎨✨

A big thank you to Beaux Arts Miami () for their continued dedication to arts education and for bringing another incredible camp experience to life. We loved welcoming young artists to the museum as they explored their creativity, tried new techniques, and made plenty of memories along the way.
