Meet the curator behind Metamorphosis!
Metamorphosis was curated by Tracy Longley-Cook, an accomplished photographer and an associate professor of photography at Wright State University. Tracy has always been drawn to photography, and she received her BFA and MFA in photography from the University of Washington and Arizona State University. Tracy's personal work explores how grief and transformation intertwine and approaches metamorphosis through themes of loss, identity, and renewal.
She wanted to curate an exhibition that could embrace and consider the complex and transformative nature of life, through broad and personal reflection. Tracy began looking for a variety of artists and disciplines that could create a cohesive dialog surrounding metamorphosis and reflect on their unique perspectives and experiences, both internally and externally.
"I am interested in the ways individuals internalize and respond to change, which is not only external and structural, but also intimate and psychological. It reshapes identity, alters perception, and challenges our sense of stability and belonging. Metamorphosis aims not only to present compelling works of art, but also to create space for viewers to consider their own experiences of change, and to reflect on questions of identity, memory, loss, growth, and renewal."
