Cody Firearms Museum at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West The Cody Fi****ms Museum in Cody, Wyoming is one of five museums at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West—founded in 1991 and completely redesigned in 2019.

The museum houses more than 10,000 artifacts that span hundreds of years. The Cody Fi****ms page is a way to stay in touch with the museum before or after a trip. It's a great place to ask questions, share your personal stories, and learn about guns - even if you can't make the trip to Cody (though we hope you will).

The Cody Fi****ms Museum is pleased to present our newest temporary exhibit, "Wi******er: 160 Years in the Making." This display is in collaboration with the Ars Mechanica Foundation of the FN Browning Group and features 60 Wi******er fi****ms arranged in chronological order, encompassing 160 years of Wi******er's history.

Each year the symposium brings together leading academics, museum professionals, and independent researchers to present the latest findings in fi****ms studies. Related topics—such as museum studies and broader investigations of arms and munitions—are also welcome.

We're often asked about the steps we take to preserve our artifacts. In both storing and displaying our artifacts, we take careful measures to protect our objects from temperature, humidity, contact, and light exposure. To control temperature and humidity, our artifacts are kept in sealed environments that prevent rapid changes in temperature as well as filter out humidity that exceeds our climate control. Each object is also rested on an artifact-safe material that protects against, scratches, friction, or any other form of contact. Lastly, we rotate objects between display and storage to prevent fading due to long-term exposure to light.

This Wi******er Model 1894 was built in 1905 with a barrel threaded for a silencer. Prior to the introduction of the National Fi****ms Act in 1934, a silencer, now more commonly called a suppressor, could be purchased over the counter like any other firearm accessory.
