The group was part of a U.S. State Department delegation on the topic of Inclusive Education for Students with Disabilities.
During their visit the group learned about the Great Lakes Science Center’s Robotics Initiative, got a museum tour, and learned how the museum provides STEM education to students with disabilities.

The celebration will feature free general admission for all guests and a visit from retired astronaut and Marine Corps pilot Col. Jack R. Lousma, one of the astronauts who flew the command module.
Guests can hear Lousma recount his experiences during a Capsule Chat at 11 a.m. during the event and greet him during a meet and greet session at 1 p.m.! We can't wait to celebrate this historic milestone with you!

Today marks the 40th anniversary of Dr. Guion “Guy” Bluford’s first mission in space. Dr. Bluford became the first African American to fly in space on August 30, 1983 when NASA’s STS-8 mission lifted off from Kennedy Space Center, taking the space shuttle Challenger and Dr. Bluford into space and into history. We are honored when Dr. Bluford visits the Science Center!

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District Great Lakes Science Center Robotics Initiative students have returned from Ecuador and gotten some much needed rest. Our students provided multiple children with new 3-D printed prosthetic limbs and will help 15 more families in the coming weeks. The ground work has also been laid to start a robotics team in Ecuador that will introduce indigenous middle and high school students to STEM.
