1918 photo of Burton Dam under construction. It was finished in 1919. It was not intended to have a power generating plant. The power plant was not finished until 1927. Each of the power company dam projects had several hundred men working on them, possibly up to a thousand workers.

Fuzzy picture of Augustus Andreae, who did much to develop lots on Lake Rabun after it was finished in 1915. Did not build the Lake Rabun Hotel but purchased it in the 1930's and ran it for many years after that.

Black workers camp at Terrora power plant project 1924 picture. Terrora was the power plant for Lake Rabun. The dam was finished in 1915. There were separate camps for black and white workers to keep down trouble. Notice the sign "No White People Allowed in this Camp". I see wires on a pole, so they must have had electricity, at a time when most of Rabun County did not.

Early photo of Mountain City Livery in Mountain City. Date maybe 1910's or 20's when there were more horses than cars. There are mounted horses, horse & buggies & a car. It is said that back then everyone had horses because few people could afford cars , and that now everyone has cars because few people can afford horses. Anyone know where this location was ?
