October 21, 1976: The Big Red Machine completed its sweep of the Yankees in the World Series with a 7-2 victory at Yankee Stadium. Johnny Bench hit two homers in the game and drove in five runs. His World Series performance earned him Series MVP honors. The 1976 Reds are the only team in major league history to go undefeated through an entire postseason.

October 17, 1990: During Game 2 of the 1990 World Series on October 17, 1990, Cincinnati Reds pitcher Tom Browning went missing from the dugout because he left to rush his wife to the hospital for the birth of their child. When the game went into extra innings and the team needed him to pitch, broadcasters famously made a live on-air appeal for him to return.

The Reds Hall of Fame and Museum offers Ballpark and Clubhouse Tours on Saturdays and Sundays

The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum presented by Dinsmore is once again offering offseason ballpark and clubhouse tours of Great American Ball Park.

Get an insider’s look at the home of the Reds with these off-season options:

Great American Ball Park Tour
Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. & 1 p.m. (through March 14)
*Also available during the holidays on: Dec. 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 & 30
The 90-minute visit featuring stops at the following areas
• Crosley Terrace
• Handlebar presented by Braxton Brewing Company
• Champions Club
• Scouts Club presented by Belterra Park
• Lexus Diamond Club
• Warning Track & Dugouts

Major League Clubhouse Tour (offseason only)
Saturdays and Sundays at Noon & 2 p.m. (October 17-March 7)
This expanded two-hour tour adds the following stops to the GABP tour:
• Reds & Visitors Clubhouses
• Field Level Media Room
• Reds Broadcast Booths
• Batting Tunnels

All tours are guided by experts, with stories and history brought to life. Each tour ticket includes same day Reds Hall of Fame and Museum admission.

Tours are not offered on Sundays when the Bengals have home games. Limited availability. Check the website for times, changes and updates.

October 9, 1969: George “Sparky” Anderson was hired as Reds manager. Anderson had no prior managerial experience at the major league level and his hiring took many by surprise. During his nine-year tenure, the Reds averaged 96 victories a season, won five division titles, four National League pennants, and World Series Championships in 1975 and 1976.
