🚔 A great piece of local law enforcement history! Check out this photo featuring a Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Chevrolet Caprice alongside two Green Township Police Caprices.

Photos like this take us back to an era when the Chevrolet Caprice ruled the roads as the patrol car of choice for departments across Southwest Ohio. It’s always fascinating to see multiple agencies together in one scene and compare the equipment, graphics, and lighting used during the period.

Two decades apart, but carrying on the same tradition.

The City of Cheviot has always numbered its police cars a certain way. The first two numbers represent the model year of the vehicle, followed by a second set of numbers showing what unit number it was placed into service as.

The Ford Crown Victoria in this photo wears the number 0601 — meaning it was a 2006 model year and the first vehicle placed into service that year.

Fast forward nearly 20 years later, and this modern Dodge Durango now carries the number 2601. Same tradition, different generation of police car. From the legendary Crown Vic era to today’s Durango patrol units, the numbering system still tells the story. 🚔

Our good friend Jay D’Angelo served on the streets of Pasadena, California as a Pasadena police officer. This awesome newspaper clipping tells the story of how the Pasadena Police Department purchased former “Adam-12” TV cars right from Universal Studios and put them into real police service.

Jay has had an incredible career in law enforcement and continues to keep police car history alive today through the Vegas police vehicle show and the vintage police car hobby. Pretty neat piece of history connecting Hollywood and real police work together.

Back in 1979, the Cincinnati Police Department began using the unique AMC Eagle patrol cars — years before all-wheel-drive vehicles became common in police fleets. Built to handle rough weather and city streets alike, the Eagle combined passenger car comfort with rugged capability, making it an interesting addition to the department’s lineup.

These cars were fully equipped for patrol duty with classic Mars light bars mounted on top along with prisoner cages installed inside. While they looked much different than the traditional full-size cruisers of the era, the AMC Eagles still served the streets of Cincinnati proudly and remain one of the more unusual police vehicles in department history.

Some more photos of different Green Township Constable cars from back in the day. These old photos are a great look into the history of local law enforcement and the vehicles that once patrolled the west side of Cincinnati. From the hand painted lettering to the period correct lights and equipment, every car had its own unique look.

It’s photos like these that helped inspire and guide the recreation of our Green Township Constable 1969 Biscayne. Preserving this history and sharing it with others is what makes this hobby so special.

We know who it is but can anyone guess the department? 👀

Here’s a tough one from back in the day. Check out the light setup, markings, and those classic late-60s/early-70s patrol car lines. This old cruiser was definitely turning heads rolling down the street.

Drop your guesses below and let’s see who knows their vintage police cars! 🚓🔥
