Chimayo Weavers - Centinela Traditional Arts

Chimayo Weavers - Centinela Traditional Arts Centinela Traditional Arts is a tapestry gallery in Chimayo, New Mexico, and on the web at www.ChimayoWeavers.com.

The weaving gallery is run by Irvin and Lisa Trujillo, who are award-winning weavers whose work has been shown in, and collected by, museums across the United States, including the Smithsonian. The tapestry gallery and this website also represent several other talented weavers, and you can see all of their work by browsing through our weavings, here on the website. Take a look at the catalog, and

all of its categories: to see blanket weight weavings for the wall, and for your furniture, and look at our selection of hand woven rugs, vests, and coats. Chimayo Weavers, New Mexico is a weaving and tapestry company.

We have new 20X20 Chimayo weavings from Sabina Lovato!
It's been a busy summer for everyone and we can't wait to see more as it starts to cool down and we get into the new rhythm of the end of the summer and beginning of fall (which we cannot wait for!)

Just giving an update, we've gotten a few calls asking about how we're doing in Chimayo regarding the Frijoles Fire. So far we are in no intimidate danger, but outside has been incredibly smoky (especially in the mornings and evenings). We are still open from our normal hours!
We have been keeping an eye on the situation and have an evacuation plan in place if the fire gets closer; but the firefighters are working hard to make sure that doesn't happen! If it does get to that point, we will post an update if we need to close the shop for safety reasons. We have a team of wonderful people ready to help us take all the cultural assets to safety in Albuquerque in the event of an evacuation.

We recommend this website/app for updates regarding closures, evacuation status, and air quality:

Irvin Trujillo finished some smaller Chimayo weavings this week!
This 20X40 weaving includes the traditional colors of red, black, and white found in Prototypical Chimayos.
He's been going between his large loom and our smaller demonstration loom. We're looking forward to see what he weaves next!
