The Chimayó Cultural Preservation Association is thrilled to announce a $100,000 grant from the Nuestra Herencia Grants Program to restore the Casa Rudy Cruz, a 250-year-old adobe casita on the historic Plaza del Cerro — right next door to the Chimayó Museum.
The funding will support renovation using traditional materials, creating new space for museum programs including Los Maestros del Norte, community gatherings, and educational presentations.
The Nuestra Herencia program, a national initiative led by Latinos in Heritage Conservation, distributed $600,000 this year to 14 projects preserving Latino heritage nationwide — and the Casa Rudy Cruz project was recently featured by Noticias Telemundo.
