The downtown Chico businesses are struggling at this time of the year by no fault of our own and we need locals to come down and do some shopping for the Holiday season. To help, Park and Go is giving away the first two hours of free parking in the city-owned lots, July, August, and September (if all goes well they might extend it to the end of the year). This applies to the 10-hour parking lot surrounding Art Etc. Not only that but the meters in front of our building still have the coin operated meters that people have been missing as of late. Please come down and help out a business and enjoy the first 2 hours for free. Feel free to come in and ask us how to receive the 2 hours and we will gladly help you out. So come and park, visit us, and then walk around downtown and visit your other favorite businesses or eateries.

It is with sad hearts that we had to say goodbye this past weekend to a Chico legend David Simcox. He and Anna had owned Art Etc for 16 years prior to us taking over in 2018. They truly made the transition as seamless as possible and during that transition they quickly became my second family. Dave would come and visit me quite often and always amused the crap out of me and made me laugh even if I was having a rough day. His humor and wit was unparalleled and his talent for art was truly amazing. He would come in with some new art all the time and every time I was more impressed than the last. As I sob while writing this I think back to how many times someone would recall a memory about Dave, whether it was a story about his time being a professor at Chico State, or about a time witnessing him play the bass at a special event, or even just a time they sat and talked with him at Art Etc I realize how much impact he had on so many people. I could sit here all day and write beautiful things about Dave or I could tell Anna the same things she has already heard a million times in the past few days but I will stop now and let us all grieve in our own way. Thank you for making a lasting impression on my life David Simcox. You will truly be missed. RIP

I am looking for someone (or group) that is interested in free matboard scraps. All the scraps are in perfect condition and 100's of different colors but they are just a little too small for me to hang onto with the limited space I have here and too big to just throwing them in the trash. Sizes range from 5"x7" up to 16"x20". I have them stored in a box so picking them up would be a breeze. Please let me know if you, or someone you know, would be interested. DM me
