We are a private fine art gallery located in breathtaking northern California. We are your source for exceptional artworks from the 1600s through contemporary. While some galleries focus on only one or two narrow fine art areas, Richard C. Frey Fine Arts deals in artworks from countless movements, geographic regions, and media. Our inventory consists of original paintings, prints, photographs, scu

Whether you are looking for an original Auguste Renoir watercolor, California Art, or a Tiffany vase, Richard C. Frey Fine Arts is sure to have what suits your interest in our vast fine art inventory. Richard C. Frey, ISA CAPP Life Member, a longtime resident of Chico, started his first business on July 30, 1945 with The Stamp Corner, a small stamp and coin shop located at 126 West Third Street in Downtown Chico. It was then that he performed his first personal property appraisal on a major local stamp collection. Richard soon broadened his focus to fine art in 1950 and amassed a large, important art collection. In 1972, Richard began dealing fine art, which took him around the globe, spending months traveling and studying. In 1983, Richard joined the International Society of Appraisers, a professional organization for the advancement and education of personal property appraising. He earned the highest level of certification the ISA can bestow (Certified Appraiser of Personal Property or CAPP) through years of rigorous education and professional experience. Richard recently received the honor of Life Member status from the ISA which is only given to two appraisers each year.

Fred Grayson Sayre works are known for his unique treatment of pigment in "COLOR SEPERATION" which enhances vibration value and retains the most subtle atmospheric qualities. This is the only known method (Of its time) whereby a picture is reproduced in the exact medium used by the painter in the original.

We have just added three beautiful, hand colored photogravures to our eBay by Western photographer Roland Reed. Between the mid-late 1800s to the early 1900s, Reed traveled across the American west taking photos of Native Americans, documenting their activities, relationships, and customs. He was one of a few artists striving to document Native life and dispel the rumor that Native Americans had disappeared, a common misconception used to encourage westward expansion.
