The American Indian Association of Illinois is a non-profit,501C3 tax exempt American Indian organization dedicated to providing education for American Indian people, that is grounded in the many tribal cultures of its students living in a large urban/ suburban area.

The American Indian Association of Illinois operates the Medicine Shield School program. This program offers students assistance in obtaining BA degree admission and financial aid/scholarship information. AIAI also provides tutoring for American Indian Chicago Public School children and GED students. The Chicago American Indian Museum,the Chicago American Indian Artist's Registry and the Black Hawk American Indian Dance and Performance Company are also part of AIAI. The American Indian Urban Institute is also housed by AIAI,providing library,archival,and media research opportunities to community members and local scholars. Bearclaw Multimedia and the Tribal Wood Film Festival are also sponsored by AIAI.

Mission: To provide education for American Indian people and others who may benefit from education that embraces the many tribal cultures represented in the Chicago area.

We are honored and thrilled to announce our space will soon be filled with the work of American Indian artist and Chicago resident, Chris Pappan The Art of Chris Pappan.
Andersonville Arts Week begins October 11th and will run through Sunday, October 15th. Chris's work will be installed at Norcross and Scott from Tuesday, October 10th through Sunday, October 22nd.
"Drawing on Tradition: Kanza Artist Chris Pappan", is currently on view at the The Field Museum through 2019. This museum exhibition represents a long overdue moment in time when a large institution has engaged Native American artists to curate their own exhibit, control the dialogue, and shape the image portrayed. Selected works from the WONDERFUL exhibit will be featured during Arts Week.
Artist reception will be held Friday, October 13th from 6-9pm. Open to all. Andersonville Chamber of Commerce
