Madron is a gallery of American art. Paintings, drawings, photographs, and sculptures from 19th-century Impressionism through 20th-century Modernism.

With head tilted back and neck exposed, the posture appears to be one of ecstasy—perhaps an allusion to the revelers of Dionysus, the god of w**e.

Created shortly after American women won the right to vote, scholars have interpreted "The Vine" as a symbol of social freedom, autonomy, and breaking from traditional Victorian constraints.

In the defense of realism, Raphael Soyer wrote, “My art is representational by choice. In my opinion, if the art of painting is to survive, it must describe and express people, their lives and times.”
This self-portrait of the artist at 80 is one of straight-forward humility.

According to William Glackens' daughter-in-law in a letter to the painting's first owner, Glackens painted the work in New Hampshire in the early 1920s, adding, "May you be happy with it."

Whistler's model in “The Little N**e Model, Reading” strikes a nonchalant pose; situated in an undone space and described in scribbled line work, the moment appears spontaneous, but of course we know, it's anything but. She reads intently, wrist arched, just about to flip the page.

Opening Reception on October 15 at 5:30 PM, The Fine Art of [Madron Gallery], an exhibition that explores twenty-five artworks by twenty-five artists that Madron has analyzed, discussed, and exhibited.

Art serves as both a reflection of culture and a catalyst actively shaping future thought. Artists communicate universal truths and authentic moments, creating work that transcends time, inspires audiences, and builds community. Individual objects can be powerful tools—gateways into unknown or forgotten narratives. Researching the provenance and cultural context of historical works involves exploring archives, libraries, exhibition catalogues, personal letters, newspaper articles, and oral histories. Madron Gallery works diligently to uncover these stories. Through our monthly newsletter, The Fine Art of [ ], we highlight 19th and 20th-century artists whose work remains as relevant today as the day it was created.
