New on the Label;

"It's rare to come back home empty-handed from a foray into Corbett vs Dempsey’s territorial waters, and this mission is no exception. Today, we're talking about the Atlantic Pact, set between the ever-erupting, volcanic Chicago scene and the anarcho-free stronghold of Amsterdam, that nothing and no one will ever conquer. No drones, tanks, Patriots, or F-35s, but the only weapons useful to humanity: reeds, pianos, drums, and basses. "

Jimmy Wright’s “Red Sunflower No. 1,” is included in the ’s 2026 ArtCrush Auction.

Jimmy Wright had already been an artist for a quarter century when he began making still life paintings of flowers. They were always more than flowers. The initial sunflower works were a kind of memento mori for his partner Ken Nuzzo, who died of AIDS in the late 1980s. Wright has remained with the subject matter ever since, exploring the many evocations of emotion they offer and reveling in the variety of ways they invite him to handle paint. Wright’s floral paintings will be the subject of a solo exhibition at Thomas Dane Gallery in London in September of 2026.

Wright was a close friend of Arch Connelly, whose work is the subject of a major retrospective curated by Stella Bottai, currently on view at the Aspen Art Museum. Meeting first at Southern Illinois University in the early 70s, they remained friends once they both settled in New York. After Connelly’s passing in the early 90s, Wright kept his legacy alive, donating Connelly’s archives to the Whitney Museum of American Art and coordinating the acquisition of his work to the Whitney, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Wright’s painting will be on view at the Aspen Art Museum through July 30th. The ArtCrush online auction opens today, July 21, and closes August 1 at 12PM MT.

This Saturday, Corbett vs. Dempsey presents a solo acoustic performance by Chris Connelly.

One of the prime movers in the heyday of Industrial Rock, Connelly was a core member of Revolting C***s and Ministry, as well as Martin Adkins’s post-punk band Pigface.  In the early nineties, Connelly launched a rich solo career, exploring the heavy and the hard, as well as the delicate and the balladic.  His luminous record The Ultimate Seaside Companion, made as The Bells, is slated for re-release on CvsD in the near future, replete with unissued material and unused original cover design.  A brilliant singer and songsmith, his work has a dramatic edge, teasing at the heart with melancholy or menace.  On this rare solo event, which will be completely unplugged, Connelly will perform songs as well as some spoken word.  Please join us for one of the unique voices in contemporary music.

Join us on July 8th at 6pm to celebrate the release of B. Ingrid Olson’s book Cast of Mind, very recently published by Dancing Foxes Press.

As part of a yearlong exhibition at i8 Grandi in Reykjavik, Olson continuously reconfigured her artworks within the space in order to test the reciprocity between photography, sculpture and architecture. This became a guiding structure for the book, which models artistic practice as an evolving form. As Olson writes in her introduction: “More closely related to a spiral than a line, the permutations of Cast of Mind do not reach a culmination and instead tangle into a networked maze, composing an abstraction of both exhibition-making and studio processes.

Olson will be joined in conversation with the book’s designer, Chad Kloepfer as well as three of the publication’s contributing writers, Mariana Fernández, Kate Nesin and Leslie Wilson.

Through June 13th!

"The show is a series of eleven drawings ranging from the 1960s through the 1990s. Six of them are in Rocca’s signature style, a combination of comic art with catalogue style on a grid-like format, throughout the 1960s, the time she was with the Hairy Who."

"She is not trying to make work that fits into any of the trends, legacies, or academic theories the art world currently celebrates. Total independence of this sort is rare."
-John Yau

Her depictions of individuals in settings that seem both out of time and of this moment represent one of many engaging paradoxes.
