Researching light as both scientific phenomenon and poetic force, Nielsen continues her ongoing dialogue between photography, painting, and perception. In ‘Auric,’ light becomes not simply a tool for seeing, but a living structure through which transformation, instability, and connection are made visible. Nielsen’s images evoke places that feel simultaneously remembered and unknown, reflecting a world already in motion beneath our feet.

Congratulations to artist Damian Stamer on the acquisition of his work “Requiem” by the Nasher Museum of Art, a gift of Susan and Michael Hershfield.

Damian Stamer (b. 1982, Durham, North Carolina) received his BFA from Arizona State University as a National Merit scholar and his MFA from UNC Chapel Hill as a Jacob K. Javitz fellow. He studied at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design as a Rotary Ambassadorial scholar and at the University of Fine Arts Budapest as a Fulbright grantee. Stamer was awarded the Budapest Art Factory International Artist Residency and the North Carolina Arts Council Arts Fellowship in 2017 and 2014, respectively. Stamer meticulously explores the intricacies of time, memory, and the transient nature of existence. He engages with a spectrum of influences that include the natural processes of decay and entropy, the intuitive practice of autonomic mark making, and the silent narrative of abandonment and ruin, all while drawing insights from meditation, psychology, and the study of consciousness. Stamer’s images capture the inevitable flux of time and the ephemeral quality of our experiences, reflecting on the unavoidable change that shapes our perception of the world.

Amir H. Fallah (b.1979 in Tehran, Iran) received a BFA in Painting from Maryland Institute College of Art and his MFA from University of California, Los Angeles. His practice bridges painting and collage to craft personal and political narratives.

He has enjoyed previous solo exhibitions at The Fowler Museum, Los Angeles, CA (2023); Center of International Contemporary Art, Vancouver, BC (2022); Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN (2021); MOCA Tuscan, Tuscan, AX (2020); South Dakota Museum of Art, Brookings, SD (2019); Schneider Museum of Art, Ashland, OR (2017); San Diego Art Institute, San Diego, CA (2017); and Nerman Museum Of Art, Overland, KS (2015), among others. Amir H. Fallah has several forthcoming solo museum exhibitions in 2027, including at the Van Every/ Smith Galleries at Davidson College, Davidson, NC, the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle, WA and the Michigan State University Broad Museum, East Lansing, MI.

Fallah has been the recipient of numerous grants, awards, and residencies, including the 9th Sharjah Biennial, the Joan Mitchell Foundation Painters and Sculptors Grant, and the COLA Individual Artist Fellowship. His work has been featured in several publications, including Hyperallergic, Colossal, and The New York Times, among others. The artist lives and works in Los Angeles, CA.

His solo exhibition “What The Wind Carries” will open at SOCO Gallery on September 16, 2026.

‘At the Club’ depicts shapes in various transparencies but focuses on the physical connection and overlap between the forms. The shapes form relationships with each other: leaning, intersecting, and merging. The shapes themselves almost become mirrors to real life and the relationships we inhabit.

Stephanie H. Shih・Invisible Hand・2025

In ‘Invisible Hand,’ Stephanie H. Shih focused on the intersection of industrial food systems and immigrant identity. Through her works, Shih reveals the human effort—often performed by undocumented workers—embedded in the foods Americans consume daily. From the gentle harvesting of soft berries to the meticulous trimming of cabbage and the hand-butchered meat fed into machines, these acts of labor remain largely invisible.

The exhibition title, ‘Invisible Hand,’ references the illusion that consumer goods simply arrive on shelves in the modern supermarket without human touch. Shih dismantles this myth, urging viewers to recognize the labor—deliberate, skilled, and often hidden—behind food products. By rendering these everyday items in clay, a material historically associated with permanence, she imbues them with a sense of dignity that the labor behind them is rarely afforded.

Keiran Brennan Hinton’s (b. 1992, Toronto) practice includes the formal painting process; the act of observation; reflections of domestic intimacy; the plein-air discipline; and interiority. The moments that compel him to choose a particular painting subject are fueled by feeling but often incidentally rooted in parallels with specific art historical references. Brennan Hinton’s practice relies on ‘felt space’ rather than learned linear perspective or the prioritization of technical accuracy.
Brennan Hinton received his BFA from Pratt Institute in 2014 and his MFA from Yale University in 2016. Recent solo exhibitions have been at Maki Gallery, Tokyo, JP (2026, 2022); Charles Moffett, New York, NY (2025, 2023, 2021); SOCO Gallery, Charlotte, NC (2025); a solo booth at The Armory Show, Charles Moffett, New York, NY (2024); Nicolas Robert Gallery, Toronto, ON (2022); Thomas Fuchs Gallery, Stuttgart, Germany (2021). The artist has been awarded the Gloucester Painting Prize and Residency, Yale International Student Scholarship, Outstanding Merit in Painting and Presidential Scholarship both from the Pratt Institute, NY. In 2024 Brennan Hinton completed a residency at the Corsicana Artist and Writer Residency in Corsicana, TX. The artist lives and works in Toronto, Canada.

Karine Laval (b. 1971, Paris, France) graduated from the CELSA - Paris Sorbonne in France, where she majored in communications and journalism. She is a French American Brooklyn-based artist who specializes in multi-disciplinary art involving photography, videography, public art, and immersive installations. A self-taught artist, she completed her art, photography and design education through evening and weekend courses at the School of Visual Arts, Cooper Union School of Art, and the New School in New York.
Karine Laval’s artistic practice encompasses photography, video, projection, public art and immersive installations. Her still and moving images often challenge the familiar perception we have of the world, and can be seen as a bridge between the world we live in and a more surreal and dreamlike dimension. She combines analog techniques and digital technologies to explore the transformative power of the camera.

Laval has worked on commissions for prestigious companies such as Hermès (2015-2016) and Louis Vuitton (2018-2019), architects and institutions. Some of her recent public art commissions include a monumental scale installation at 22 Bishopsgate in London, an installation of large lightboxes in the New York City subway, and an art commission by Peter Marino for the Cheval Blanc hotel in the newly renovated La Samaritaine in Paris.

Her work has been widely exhibited in solo and group exhibitions throughout the United States, and internationally at such venues as the Palm Springs Art Museum and the Los Angeles Center for Digital Art (USA), the Sorlandet Art Museum in Kristiansand and the French Cultural Center in Oslo (Norway), the Palais de Tokyo in Paris (France), and at several photo festivals throughout Europe and the US.

The creation of Liz Nielsen’s works takes place completely in the dark. Colored light is strategically blocked, released, layered, and counted through dozens of exposures before the works are processed through traditional color chemistry. The resulting compositions are extremely vibrant and produce an auric experience for the viewer.

The Haas Brothers・I Saw Design, and Art Opened Up My Eyes, I Saw Design・2019

In the Haas Brother’s first exhibition with SOCO Gallery, the brothers created new works specifically for their first Southeast-region exhibition. The exhibition presented the Brothers’ ever imaginative and fantasy-filled creations that straddle between two worlds. The brothers have spurned the arbitrary boundaries and hierarchies of the art world, merging the realms of craft, design and contemporary art.
