✨ Gothic Revival was popular from 1840 to 1880. Common features include a steeply pitched roof, pointed arch windows, decorative bargeboard, and one story porches with decorative trim, porch supports, and balustrades. ✨

2026 marks 60 years since the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) was signed into law! 🥳

The NHPA was passed in 1966 to protect our nation’s heritage from rampant development. Some key elements of the Act:

✔️ Sets federal policy for preservation
✔️ Establishes a federal-state and federal-tribal partnership
✔️ Establishes the National Register of Historic Places & National Historic Landmarks programs.
✔️ Mandates qualified State Historic Preservation Officers
✔️ Charges Federal Agencies with responsible stewardship
✔️ Establishes the role of Certified Local Governments within the states
