On October 20, after a brave three-year journey with multiple cancers, our dear friend Phillip Spohn found new landscapes to photograph.
Phillip, first in his all black, and later exploding into full color with his Hawaiian shirts—but always with his camera—was known as the photographer for the Eastern Shore News. He also dedicated his artistic talents to Lemon Tree Gallery and Films That Move, becoming part of the Arts Enter family. He and his beloved wife, Kelley Drummond Gaskill, enjoyed being patrons of the Historic Palace Theatre.
Although Phillip will be remembered for his talent behind the lens, he will be most deeply missed for his caring and authentic spirit. Known to go the extra mile in quiet ways, Phillip made the world better everywhere he went.
Thank you, Phillip, for all of the many moments you captured for Arts Enter and for the Shore over the years, and for sharing your beautiful life with us. We are grateful to have called you our friend.
If you have memories of Phillip at Arts Enter that you would like to share, please contact [email protected], to be included in Arts Enter’s 30th Anniversary coffee table book.
