Alexa Joan Givens Wajed’s sculptures float around the gallery, teasing glimpses of color within the black surfaces as you walk past. The free flowing shapes, an extension of Alexa’s line work among the gallery walls, have a cloud-like feel to them. As when staring at the sky, a viewer can find their own meaning, searching for shapes in the pieces as they would a cloud in the sky. The exhibition becomes a guide to finding direction and purpose, and her insightful poems, like “My Lines,” provide lyrical conceptions of how to make the most of life, too.
