Join us for “Bigfoot Broke My Sewing Machine.” This exhibition features the artwork of Beckett Brueggemann, Grendelin Drag Kiara A Reagan maya rocky

Myths and mythos are the ways in which we create stories to understand our histories. By creating and excavating our own myths and archetypes, we are able to address and investigate the histories which have created the world we live in now. We are able to understand the many facets which create “truth” through narrative. Through textiles, clay, and performance, Beckett Brueggemann, Kiara Reagan, Maya Greenfield, and Rocky Prull explore the many ways our histories influence where we are now, who we have become, and where we are going in an ever shifting country. Each artist has a relationship with quilting in their work: bringing together stories, piecing fabric, and engaging with textile traditions. We encourage visitors to add stitches and stories to our community quilt.

Two Monsters convene over a spindle of thread to unravel the truth of the Witch who wanders the depths of these forests. Over the course of drag, dancing, and fairytale, see what stories they spin!

Two characters, Beckett Brueggemann as Grendelin Drag and drag performer Mimolette as the Witch of the Woods, will tell the story of the Witch of the Woods. As the Witch spins a spindle of thread, Grendelin will tell the Witch’s story through a spoken word audio and movement routine. Once the story has been told, the Witch will hand off the spindle to Grendelin who will begin to knit the thread. As Grendelin knits, the Witch will perform a more traditional drag dance to a mix of songs. The performance will conclude with a statement from Grendelin and an invitation for the audience to join in on forest festivities. The song “Monster Mash” will play and the two Monsters will lead viewers in the cotton eye joe line dance.

Piano Craft Gallery is pleased to announce that it will be launching the Artistry of Self program with some of Boston Public Schools youngest learners Higginson Inclusion K0-2 this school year. Our team of artists and community leaders will use Boston Public Schools Focus early childhood curriculum to bridge academic content with hands-on arts instruction. This program has been designed to increase students’ positive self-image and communication skills through a variety of arts activities taught in small groups and to make explicit connections through the arts. Each of the school’s 11 classrooms will have arts instruction each week.

Piano Craft Gallery se complace en anunciar el lanzamiento del programa *Artistry of Self* (El arte del yo) con los alumnos más jóvenes de la escuela Higginson Inclusion K2, perteneciente a las Escuelas Públicas de Boston, durante este año escolar. Nuestro equipo de artistas y líderes comunitarios utilizará el plan de estudios de educación temprana “Focus” de las Escuelas Públicas de Boston para vincular el contenido académico con la enseñanza práctica de las artes. Este programa ha sido diseñado para fortalecer la autoimagen positiva y las habilidades comunicativas de los estudiantes mediante diversas actividades artísticas en grupos reducidos, así como para establecer conexiones explícitas a través del arte. Cada una de las 11 aulas de la escuela recibirá clases de arte semanalmente.

Gardens of Resonance

An exhibition by the Eliot School of Fine & Applied Arts 2026 Artist in Residence Corey Watanabe with Teen Program Manager Taína Vargas, Program Assistants Jude Corkren and
Eleni Wagner, and Teen Bridge Artists Samantha Destouche, William Fernandes, Zoe Fernandes, Michael Finley, Aaliyah Levy, Laila Limontas, Geovanny Martinez Mojica, Diligent
Sankofa, Aiden Troncoso, and Elizabeth Vasquez.

Gardens of Resonance explores how the environment shapes our identity, experiences, and artistic voice. As conceptualized by Corey, the “Garden of Resonance” is a dynamic, internal landscape that embodies our personal relationship with nature. Its energy is rooted in the
interconnected resonance of all beings, serving as the primary source of our creative expression. We in turn nourish these gardens through the act of creation.

Throughout the residency, Corey and the Teen Bridge Artists deepened their relationship with their personal “Gardens of Resonance” by engaging with values of home, community, memory, and activism through a series of site-to-studio workshops. The Teen Bridge Artists led these
workshops with our community partners: the Arnold Arboretum, The Food Project, and City
Sprouts. At each site, students used unique tactile media that speak directly to the ephemerality of the landscape, including cyanotype, botanical printing, shibori with natural dyes, and sensory charcoal. The project culminated in the collaborative creation of a large-scale “Resonance
Tapestry,” which weaves together the interconnected themes found in each student’s “Garden of Resonance.”

Experience this work in community at our Opening Reception on Friday, August 21, 6–8 PM! This celebration of Corey and the Teen Bridge Artist’s work will include a panel-style artist
talk, music, food, and time to have one-on-one discussions with the artists.

Celebration of Diverse American Identity Through Visual Art

“Rui”is a curated group exhibition spotlighting Asian American artists and their friends with diverse backgrounds and heritage working in visual art such as painting, fiber, sculpture and ceramic. The group includes not only the artists who carry genetic traits from geological Asia, but also those who embrace their influential connections with Asian culture through their life experiences. The project explores themes of identity, migration, spiritual human connection, and cultural influence through tactile forms. The exhibition features fifteen artists sharing personal stories and creative processes. The exhibition incubates intergenerational dialogues around the diverse American life experiences and the artists are eager to engage the public with interdisciplinary artistic practices.
