It is a great feeling to walk into a world class museum and see a painting that was conserved by your company! This painting of Benjamin Franklin by Duplessis (1725-1802) is the iconic portrait that is seen in practically every textbook of American History. It was conserved by Peter Williams/ Museum Services for the Boston Public Library and is now on exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston in "Casanova's Europe Art Pleasure and Power in the 18th Century". On view from July 8th-October 8th, 2018.

AUTUMN AT MEDWAY, BY ROBERT SPEAR DUNNING
4 ½” x 8 ¼”
Conserved and cleaned by Peter Williams/Museum Services. Painting courtesy of Fall River Historical Society Fall River MA

Robert S. Dunning 1829-1905, was the founder of the Fall River School of painting and as an artist is admired today for his exceptional and precise attention to detail. This example is from a lost era when bigger was not necessarily better, and quality was more important and valuable than size. Sadly few painters today would have the training and patience to craft such a fine work of art, and if they did, the present culture might not support their efforts.

So happy to be part of conserving this fine portrait of "Nina Rubinoff" c.1915 by Fenway Studios artist Mary Brewster Hazelton (1868-1953). We are always pleased to see works by former Fenway Studio artist "return home". The Wellesley Historical Society is currently accepting donations to help restore the over 60 paintings by Hazelton in their collection.
