🚂 WE’RE HOSTING A RAILROADIANA SALE! 🚂

Over the years, Tri-State has received generous donations of railroad books, model trains, and other railroad-related items. When these items duplicate materials already in our collection or fall outside our collecting scope, we offer them for sale, with the proceeds helping support Tri-State’s railroad preservation and historical mission.

Join us on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 12:00 to 4:00 PM at the Gateway Community Resource Center, 513 Birch Street, Boonton, NJ.

We’ll have a large selection of railroad books and model trains, including HO scale, Lionel, and more, available at bargain prices.

Whether you’re a model railroader, railroad historian, collector, or just looking for a great deal, stop by and see what you can find!

REMINDER: Join us this Thursday, October 8!

Tri-State is pleased to welcome Dave Vago, Chief of Education and Interpretation at Thomas Edison National Historical Park, for a presentation of "Thomas Edison and the Railroads.”

This program will offer a fascinating look at one of New Jersey’s most famous figures and his many connections to the railroad industry.

We will also hold an informational session for Tri-State members regarding the proposed merger with the United Railroad Historical Society of New Jersey (URHS), as previously communicated to the membership.

Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to attend. Both in-person and virtual attendance options will be available.

Railroad Infrastructure with Christopher Schulte

Our team was at Steamtown National Historic Site today performing a periodic inspection on our EMD F3A No. 663. Following a minor part failure a few weeks ago, 663 is back in action thanks to the efforts of our dedicated volunteers and mechanic, who also completed additional preventive maintenance to keep the locomotive in top shape.

No. 663 is expected to be back in action on the Scranton Limited yard shuttle this weekend. Be on the lookout for it! 🚂

🚂 Reminder: Tri-State’s September Meeting!

Join us as Christopher F. Schulte presents on railroad infrastructure, drawing from his new book, Railroad Infrastructure Cyclopedia. Chris will explore the evolution of track, structures, signaling, electrification, and more, drawing on over four decades of railroad experience. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the meeting. We hope to see you there!
