Many thanks to our guests from the William King Museum in Abington, Virginia (), for visiting the Turchin Center today for a tour of our exhibitions.

After spending the morning with us, they made their way to Blowing Rock to visit our neighbors at BRAHM () and explore the High Country.

While the art is always a highlight, our large elevator never fails to impress!

This past Monday, we had the privilege of hosting the North Carolina Presenters Consortium () during their 2026 Annual Meeting in Boone. Along with our friends at the Appalachian Theatre of the High Country (), we hosted our guests at TCVA for registration and an opening reception before making their way to dinner onstage at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts ().

It's always an amazing experience to connect with people and organizations who promote the arts in our state! 💕

✨SCULPTURE SPOTLIGHT✨

Sam Spiczka: “Nexus,” 2006

Rural Minnesota native Sam Spiczka crafts a "modern yet intensely primal" body of work inspired by the intersection of natural bone forms and industrial craftsmanship. Drawing on his background in his family’s welding shop, Spiczka explores the tension between the "geometry of perfection" and the irregular adaptations of the natural world. His award-winning sculptures, exhibited from South Korea to the DeCordova Museum, serve as a visceral dialogue between the chaos of organic growth and the ideal forms found just beneath the surface of reality. Spiczka is also the juror of this year's Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Competition!

The Campus Arts Corridor creates a public art pathway that stretches from the Turchin Center to Rivers Street, with installations along the way at academic buildings dedicated to the arts. This sculpture–along with six others–is on display through August 7, 2026.

Not in town? You can virtually visit these sculptures and other exhibitions at tcva.org and via the app.
