Home to Hickory Ridge History Museum - 6 Watauga Co. cabins. horninthewest.com | 828-264-2120 Produced since 1952 by the Southern Appalachian Historical Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Horn in the West is the nation's only outdoor drama focused on the American Revolution. Set in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, the drama follows the courageous pioneers and frontier settlers who fought for American independence in the Southern Appalachian backcountry. The Southern Appalachian Historical Association celebrates and preserves the diverse cultural heritage of the Blue Ridge Mountain region. Through historical education, community events, and cultural programming, SAHA connects audiences of all ages to the stories and traditions that shaped this remarkable corner of America. Hickory Ridge History Museum invites guests to step back in time and explore the rich culture of the Appalachian Mountains. The museum features a collection of historic log cabins that originated in Watauga County, at least one of which is believed to date to the late 1700s, and brings early mountain life to life through guided tours, living history demonstrations, and hands-on programming.

This Saturday at Hickory Ridge History Museum, the story of Kings Mountain comes to life!

Trail to Victory: The Story of Kings Mountain places you in the heart of the 1780 Kings Mountain Campaign through an immersive living history experience unlike anything else in the High Country. Walk alongside Patriots and Loyalists, hear the orders being given, feel the weight of what was at stake, and witness one of the most pivotal moments of the American Revolution played out on the same mountain landscape where that history unfolded.

Three guided tours and one afternoon you will not forget.
