Exciting news!! Our new field technician, Brittny Ball, recently recovered a French gun flint. This is the first discovery of gun flint so far in the ongoing archaeology, as well as Brittny's first find in the field!

Congratulations, Brittny, and we look forward to uncovering more about the history behind Ohio's only Revolutionary War fort!

Only one African American was stationed at Fort Laurens during the Revolutionary War. His name was Private Dorton, and he was one of 20,000 Black men estimated to have fought in the American Revolution.

We’ll be honoring the Revolutionary War hero who helped secure America’s freedom and tragically lost his life at Fort Laurens. Directed parking will be available off-site.

Paul Revere is famous for his midnight ride to warn the patriots that “the British are coming.” But did you know that he didn’t ride alone? Sixteen-year-old Sybil Ludington also participated in the all-night ride to warn her father’s (Colonel Ludington) men that the British had attacked Danbury, Connecticut.

On a sillier note, Paul Revere would have ridden past about seven Dunkin’ Donuts had he made his same ride in 2026!

in 1778, General McIntosh left the site of Fort Laurens on his return to Fort Pitt.
The army would march back in a deep snow, hungry and leaving a garrison of 150 men behind to finish and occupy Fort Laurens.
