Fort Laurens Museum

Fort Laurens Museum Ohio's only Revolutionary War Fort Fort Laurens is an exciting place to visit. We open May 4th for the 2024 season.

We have a large park with pavilions for picnics, a museum that details the fort's history during the Revolutionary War, and we are a part of the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Hours are
May-Saturday 11-4 Sunday 12-4
June-August Wednesday-Saturday 11-4 Sunday 12-4
September-October Friday & Saturday 11-4 and Sunday 12-4

Public Archaeology has officially concluded for 2026. Thank you to everyone who came out to help us uncover history with the Ohio History Connection archaeologists. Some final discoveries that have recently been found include an old red Ponds lipstick from the 1910s, a pewter button from an old uniform, a piece of a porcelain doll face, and a ceramic transfer print. Archaeology will resume next year.

Francis Burrell was only about 17 years old when he volunteered for service under General Lachlan McIntosh in 1778. He was part of the 13th VA Regiment and served at Fort Laurens as a frontier scout along the Allegheny and Ohio rivers. He even recalled that his Delaware companion, White Eye, once saved his life during battle!
