Take a look at our new Artsy online exclusive Arrangements: The Still Life in Variation

This group show centers around each artists interpretation of a still life, depicting inanimate or non moving objects.

Arrangements: The Variations of a Still Life, a group exhibition bringing together a diverse group of artists whose work reconsiders one of art history’s oldest genres: the still life.
Each artist brings a distinct approach to the genre, with varying styles, offering a range of perspectives on a single, shared subject. Together, the works highlight how much variation is possible within one of art history’s most enduring forms.
Historically, the still life has served as a vehicle for artists to explore light, form, texture, and symbolism. This exhibition looks at the genre in the hands of contemporary artists working across different mediums and how the same fundamental premise, an arrangement of objects at rest, can yield an extraordinary range of results.
Arrangements: The Variations of a Still Life invites viewers to slow down and look closely, considering how each artist’s choices of subject, composition, palette, and process, shape the way we see the ordinary objects that surround us.

We are pleased to include this beautiful and heartfelt new work in our viewing room by Brooklyn-based painter, Ester Curini.

The artists writes,
“I’ve always loved ravens.

When I painted this piece, I imagined Monument Valley reflected in their eyes. The reds and golds of the desert became part of their gaze, as if the landscape itself had settled within them.

More than anything, though, I wanted to capture something simple: the comfort of being seen by another living being.🖤🐦‍⬛🐦‍⬛🌵”

A look at some of the smaller works in our current LORE exhibition by Na Chainkua Reindorf!

These kola nut shell inspired pieces are “pared down silhouettes and collages of kola nut shells as inhabitable, engulfing anatomies that swallow and seduce human bodies. Here the human body becomes secondary to the organic architecture, which brings forth life and opens channels to the gods”. -Curator, Robin Riskin
