Over 142,000 years ago, humans started to wear shells, bones and rocks as jewelry, tied together with ropes made by twisting fibers. In this workshop, you'll learn how to make jewelry using the traditional counter-twist method with just two strands of cotton cord. We will walk you through every step: twisting, tensioning, and weaving in handmade Java and Zibo glass beads. You will walk away with a fun, handmade statement necklace and a versatile new crafting skill! All supplies provided by the instructor with your $10 materials fee.

The Broome County Arts Council invites members to participate in its annual Members’ Juried Exhibition, on view December 2026 in BCAC’s Artisan Gallery and Art Path Gallery located at 223 State Street in Binghamton.

The exhibition will be juried in 8 categories: Drawing & Illustration, Printmaking, Mixed Media, Digital, Painting, Photography, 3D / Sculpture, Fiber. Cash prizes will be awarded in all categories ($50 each) and one Best in Show ($200). This year’s jurors will be announced soon. Applications are due November 1.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on a gorgeous First Friday for the opening of Rude and Bold Women at Artisan & Art Path Galleries and p o r t a l s by Alisha Sickler Brunelli at the Artist in Residence Studio.

Rude and Bold Women will be on exhibit through October 30. Gallery hours are Tues-Sat from 11-3 and Thurs 11-8 at 223 State Street, Binghamton.

Join us on Saturday, October 10 from 1-2 PM for the artist's reception of Yuri Forever by artist Fiona Smith at Artful Child Gallery. Fiona Smith is 14 and in 10th grade at Maine Endwell.

Artist Statement: "I have done art since I can remember. Art was always my favorite subject and what I spend most of my free time doing. What I love most about art is that I get to express myself on paper when I couldn’t do it in other ways. I’m grateful that I get to share it with everyone else at this gallery. "
