Clarke County Historical Association Founded in 1939, the Clarke County Historical Association is a 501c3 non-profit dedicated to preserving the history of Clarke County.

Venture if you dare to join us inside the Hawthorne House for your final resting place on this year's Ghost Tour! 👻 Featuring tavern tales of Daniel Morgan, bewitching ballads, and a few ghostly goodies (including hot c***r and donuts!) 🎃

Our popular haunted history tours are back! The walking tour will begin at the offices of the Clarke County Historical Association and then will travel to various locations throughout Downtown Berryville. This year we've partnered with the The Goldberg School of Music to create an updated experience with some new ghost stories!

It's the final weekend of Art at the Mill! Stop by for one last chance to snag a great work of art and enjoy the historic atmosphere of the Burwell-Morgan Mill ✨

We recently stumbled upon this photograph in the archives featuring the great Sally Trumbower embracing the autumn spirit at the 1993 fall show. We remain eternally grateful to Sally for her passion, her creativity, and her outstanding leadership. Without Sally, there would be no Art at the Mill!

🍂 It’s the first of October, and the air will (hopefully) be getting crisp soon. Time to gather with your best friends and grab a hot cup of coffee! Pictured here is the aptly-named “Coffee Club,” a small group of local men who gathered for regular coffees and conversation. The photograph was taken in 1969.

According to our records, we’ve identified the men as…
Seated: Bob Buckley, Eddie Wisecarver, Harold Hawkins, Fred Jones, Eustace Jackson, Carlton Emmart (partially obscured.)
Standing: Guy “Bill” Shackleford.
