Bakersfield Art Association The Bakersfield Art Association, non-profit since 1944. Originally built Cunningham Art Gallery before it became the Bakersfield Museum of Art.

The Art Center, currently located at 1607 19th Street, is a co-op art gallery showing members' art for sale. Also have classes, demonstrations, juried shows and workshops available. Check 869-2320 for dates and times. Parking structure is located around the corner at 18th & Eye.

🎨 Unleash Your Child’s Creativity!

The Bakersfield Art Center is offering Fall & Winter Art Classes for Children, providing a calm, safe place where children can express their creativity without the worry of being perfect!

✨ Classes include:
• Practicing the elements of art
• Sketchbook drawing
• Creating unique art using a variety of mediums
• Learning about master artists and their techniques
• Animal art
• Connecting art with literature

After-School Creative Art Class

Choose either the Wednesday or Thursday class.

Join us for a fun and creative afternoon celebrating Kern County’s agriculture and farm life!

🎨 Theme: “Best in Show”

Whether you’re a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the very first time, everyone is welcome!

Participants will use colored pencils and watercolors to sketch and paint classic farm animals—from cows, pigs, and roosters to rabbits, or anything else inspired by farm life. 🌾

Come create, have fun, and celebrate the agricultural heritage of Kern County with us!

✨ Discover a new way to bring your Zentangle® designs together!

Here’s a peek at what students created during Terry Hall’s August 25 class, where they learned a new technique called Nomadz and Zement—described as the “glue” that helps hold the tangles together.

It was a fun new approach, and Terry enjoyed teaching it so much that she plans to revisit the technique in a future class with different tangles. There’s always something new to explore!

Whether you’re new to Zentangle® or a returning student, Terry’s classes offer a welcoming space to relax, learn, create, and enjoy a little time for yourself. No artistic experience is necessary!

If you haven’t stopped by during August, don’t worry — this special exhibition continues through September! 🙌

The Bakersfield Art Association is pleased to feature the artwork of Jim Bates at our satellite exhibition at Dagny’s Coffee Company.

Working primarily in watercolor, acrylic, and pen & ink, Jim celebrates the beauty of California, with artwork inspired by the Central Coast—including Morro Bay, Cayucos, and Cambria—as well as the diverse landscapes of Kern County.

☕️ Grab a cup of coffee, take a little time to enjoy the artwork, and support local art!

The Bakersfield Art Association has a few openings for displaying artists at the Bakersfield Art Center! This is not a temporary exhibition—artists will be juried into the gallery for ongoing display.

If you’re looking for an opportunity to exhibit your work, connect with fellow artists, and become part of a welcoming creative community, we’d love to see your artwork.

Whether you’re an emerging artist or an established creator, we encourage you to apply!
