The Carver Museum & Cultural Center is a free museum, dedicated to the collection, preservation, and exhibition of African American history and culture. The Genealogy Center is an extension of the Carver Museum and Cultural Center and acts as a public resource for learning about family history. The Carver Museum and Geneology Center are currently open to the public. Entrance is free and walk-ins are available. Masks are required for entry.

Join us from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the Carver Genealogy Center on Saturday, November 14, 2026, for a free genealogy workshop! Ancestry is one of the world's most widely used genealogy websites, with truckloads of databases that can be harnessed to track down long lost family members. Census records, marriage licenses, death certificates even headstone information can be discovered and utilized.

Connect with community while you learn the basics of how to use Ancestry to locate family members. This will be an ongoing program beginning November 2026 and run through November 2027. The Black Horror Film Series returns to the The George Washington Carver Museum & Cultural Center! Join us for a thrilling double feature on October 29th at 6:30 p.m.!

This year the Carver is shining a light on Black women in horror and southern gothic films with beginning with MA, starring Octavia Spencer, and Eve's Bayou, starring Jurnee Smollett, Megan Good, Lynn Whitfield, and Debbi Morgan.

Doors open at 6:00, first movie (MA) starts at 6:30. Free and Open to the public, ages 18 and Up ( unless with a parent). Free snacks and drinks.

That’s My Face is a community film series that features works that explore the diversity of Black experiences. Full-length narrative films, documentaries, shorts, and animated works screened during the series explore various social, political, and cultural themes.

The Rotation: Hip-Hop Edition kicks off a six-part live music series at the George Washington Carver Museum celebrating the breadth of Black music and contemporary Black cultural expression. Featuring live performances by Boooka, J Soulja, and LYNN, the evening takes place inside the Boyd Vance Theater, with the LC Anderson exhibit and adjoining atrium transformed into a pre-show and intermission lounge for music, refreshments, and community gathering. The Rotation creates meaningful paid performance opportunities for artists while giving audiences a full genre-centered concert experience. Free and open to all, RSVP REQUIRED. Link below.

The Carver Museum is having their annual Pumpkin Carver event on Halloween, October 31st from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m., and we are looking for volunteers! Lend a hand on Thursday, October 29, Friday, October 30, or at the festival! We have opportunities to help with set up, breakdown, food distribution, arts and crafts, haunted maze performers, runners, and pumpkin carving.
