you keep creating because making art is part of who you are, not simply because you want recognition, money, or approval.

Even when things are difficult, slow, or unnoticed, you continue because you feel called to do the work. The work itself becomes a necessity — something you have to do because it gives meaning to your life.

For artists, it’s essentially saying:

“Keep making. Keep showing up. The calling is bigger than the applause.”

We visited the Soul Tree this morning to pay our respects and pick up some branches and slices to work into our art. Pieces created using wood from this extraordinary tree will be featured in a special upcoming show, with proceeds going to the continued restoration and regeneration of Atchison’s Historic Black Business District.
