What a night! ♻️ Thank you to everyone who made last week’s reFashioned Haute Trash Runway Show an unforgettable celebration of creativity and sustainability. Through the ingenuity of our incredible partners, talented designers and models, discarded materials were transformed into extraordinary wearable works of art that challenged assumptions about waste and highlighted the possibilities of reuse. Thank you for helping bring this vision to life and for reminding us that innovation often begins by seeing potential where others see waste.

Explore the materials and tools used to create Alaska Native belongings at our Touch Table. Museum staff will share insights into how these items are made and used, while visitors have the opportunity to examine select materials and tools up close.

Go behind the scenes of "Arctic Marine Science: Sikuliaq to Shore" with the Anchorage Museum curatorial team.

This guided tour explores the exhibition’s recreated section of research vessel Sikuliaq and the science behind ongoing studies of Arctic waters. Learn how researchers examine changes in marine ecosystems and what those changes mean for coastal communities that rely on the ocean for subsistence hunting and commercial activity.

The Anchorage Museum has come a long way from its humble beginnings, and now you can paint a piece of that story. Join us for "En Plein Air Anchorage: The Anchorage Museum" with Don Kolstad. You’ll learn about the museum’s transformation over the years while creating your own artwork from the front lawn.
Please dress for the weather, as this program will take place rain or shine.

Grab your helmet and pedal to the museum lawn to join our monthly summer bike tours. Every Third Thursday, June through August, museum staff and community experts will bike through areas of Anchorage, making stops to highlight local spots of interest based on exhibition-related themes. June's theme is public art around Anchorage.

Free. Tour begins at the Anchorage Museum and covers four to eight miles; may not be suitable for all riders. Rain or shine. Meet at 5 p.m., ride begins at 5:30 p.m.

Hear from Alaska author Dan O’Neill as he discusses "The Firecracker Boys," his acclaimed book about Project Chariot and the people who organized to stop it. Through stories of science, community action and Alaska history, O’Neill explores a pivotal moment that helped shape broader conversations about public engagement in the North.

"CoLab-orations" is a monthly workshop for tweens (10-12 years old), teens and adults that provides an opportunity to explore a specific material or skill in-depth. This month, participants will be making decorative photo frames of various sizes using simple materials and tools. Materials and some decorative elements will be provided for all participants.

5:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 16, in the Discovery Center, CoLab. $20; includes museum admission. Museum members receive a 10% discount.

Sensory-Friendly & Access Morning is open to both families and adults, especially those experiencing developmental and/or physical disabilities and those on the autism spectrum. Pack your yarn and a comfy seat and join Knitters of the North (KOTN) on the museum lawn for World Knit in Public Day! 🧶 This Saturday, June 13, on the Museum Lawn from Noon to 2 p.m.

For over 30 years, KOTN has been bringing fiber artists together in Anchorage to learn, share and give back to our community through charitable knitting. This event is all about stepping out of our living rooms, enjoying the summer daylight and sharing the joy of making together in public. Whether you’re a lifelong knitter, a crocheter, a spinner, or you're just picking up needles for the very first time, you have a place here. This is a free event.
