Charles Carrillo has dedicated his life to keeping tradition alive. 🎨

Beyond his own practice, Charles is a generous mentor who has inspired countless artists to pursue the santeros' native techniques, values, and devotional spirit. His commitment to community and craft has earned him widespread recognition, including the National Heritage Award and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Spanish Colonial Arts.

Meet Jacob Gutierrez! 🎨

Born and raised in Albuquerque, Jacob grew up close to family, and they remain his biggest influence. His work uses religious iconography to portray loved ones as they deserve to be seen, finding holiness in the people around him. Working in a New Mexican style, he connects with his culture while advancing it into the future.

He's also an art teacher skilled in woodcarving and tinwork.

Eric Romero doesn't just paint; he builds worlds. Using bold color and evocative metaphor, his oil paintings explore the crossroads of myth, philosophy, and culture. His work challenges the viewer to look beyond the surface and engage with the deep, often surreal, narratives of Nuevomexico existence.

Today is the last day of Balloon Fiesta 2026! 🎈 ✨

Did you see this balloon? "Revolt Rising" — the stunning Heritage Hotel balloon featuring art by Cochiti Pueblo artist, Virgil Ortiz.

The balloon's imagery comes from Ortiz's "Revolt 1680/2180" series, reimagining the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 through a futuristic lens. Its central figure is Tahu, leader of the Blind Archers. Commissioned by Heritage Hotels founder Jim Long, the balloon turns Ortiz's art into a seven-story-tall sculpture in the sky.

She transforms earth into storytelling, preserving techniques that might otherwise be lost while grounding contemporary Nuevomexico identity in ancestral clay.
