Adding another 22 bullpup to the party, the SARB-22
I recently posted my MBS22 from Hightower Armory. While I love the MBS22, my bullpup collection is only getting started. As soon as I saw the SARB15 from SRU I started thinking about building a dedicated 22 version instead of tossing a CMMG bolt in an ar upper.
Parts:
SRU SARB15 kit w/ extended hang guard and stock extension
BoreBuddy Apogee upper with 16" barrel
PSA stripped lower with KAK parts kit (just what my LGS had in stock)
Kriss 25rd mag
Monstrum Beast 1-6x bdc-c1 Ipvo
MCS 12" rail riser
Magpul MOE-K grip
Magpul MVG front grip
Magpul bipod
Otter Creek Labs ti22
Tacfire 3.5" buffer tube assembly with BoreBuddy plug
Thoughts having not fired it yet:
Kit was pretty easy to put together. Don't mix up your screws, keep track of what goes where.
I'll probably upgrade the trigger in the lower.
The trigger mechanism in the kit is really tight, contrasting the mushiness of the HTA kit. Pretty much zero travel with the safeties off. Confirmed either of the safeties engaged will prevent the trigger from operating.
This thing is pretty heavy compared to my other rifles at 10.8 lbs as configured. It'll be a range toy so not bothered by the weight.
26.5" from stock to barrel with the extension. Stock extension and 3.5" buffer tube is a must if going with the 16" 22 barrel since it sits about 1.5" further into the receiver. Also have an 18.5" green mountain barrel but with the weight decided to stick with the BB barrel.
• Rail riser was 100% necessary with the Ipvo, but I also think risers look badass so I was planning on it anyway. Height is perfect with where my cheek rests.
Excited to get it to the range this weekend! My destiny pulse rifle-esque collection grows!
