Casper Faassen’ın ReCollection başlıklı yerleştirmesi, Pera Müzesi’nde, Kesişen Dünyalar: Elçiler ve Ressamlar sergisi kapsamında, Suna ve İnan Kıraç Vakfı Oryantalist Resim Koleksiyonu için özel olarak üretilmiş bir çalışma olarak izleyiciyle buluşuyor.
Jean-Baptiste Hilair’in Yeni Cami ve İstanbul Limanı adlı eserinde betimlenen antik eserlerin İstanbul’dan Fransa’ya taşınma sahnesinden hareket eden Faassen, ReCollection’da bu tarihsel anlatıyı yeniden yorumluyor. Kültürel mirasın dolaşımı, aidiyet, bellek ve iade kavramlarını odağına alan sanatçı, katmanlı görsel dili aracılığıyla geçmiş ile bugün arasında şiirsel bir bağ kuruyor.
ReCollection, kültürel nesnelerin tarihsel yolculuğunu güncel bir perspektiften ele alırken, izleyiciyi hafıza, yer değiştirme ve yeniden sahiplenme üzerine düşünmeye davet ediyor.

Casper Faassen’s installation ReCollection is on view at Pera Museum as part of Intersecting Worlds: Ambassadors and Painters. Specially created for the Suna and İnan Kıraç Foundation Orientalist Painting Collection, the work engages with the historical narratives embedded within the collection through a contemporary lens.
Drawing inspiration from Jean-Baptiste Hilair’s Yeni Cami and The Port of İstanbul, which depicts the shipment of antiquities from İstanbul to France, Faassen reinterprets this historical episode through the intertwined notions of cultural heritage, belonging, memory, and restitution. Through his distinctive layered visual language, the artist establishes a poetic dialogue between past and present.
ReCollection offers a contemporary reflection on the historical trajectories of cultural objects, inviting viewers to reconsider the evolving meanings of memory, displacement, and cultural heritage.
