New Exhibition | Yeni Sergi: Christiane Peschek - PHOENIX CASTLE | ANKA KUŞU KALESİ

SANATORIUM presents Christiane Peschek’s solo exhibition PHOENIX CASTLE between the dates September 17 and October 31, 2026. PHOENIX CASTLE stands as a speculative world of purification and sedimentation from the perspective of Gaia as a living system in continuous transformation beyond human inhabitation.  PHOENIX CASTLE is a post-apocalyptic, six-week-long playground that imagines a world beyond anthropocentrism, playfully stimulating a shift of perception toward a sensibility where transformation, matter, memory, and time are inseparable. 

SANATORIUM, 17 Eylül - 31 Ekim 2026 tarihleri arasında, Christiane Peschek’in kişisel sergisi Anka Kuşu Kalesi’ne ev sahipliği yapıyor. Anka Kuşu Kalesi; Gaia’nın, insan yerleşiminin ötesinde ve sürekli dönüşüm hâlinde yaşayan bir sistem olduğu perspektifinden, arınma ve tortulaşmanın spekülatif bir dünyası olarak belirir. Sergi, antropomerkezci olmayan bir dünyanın hayalini kuran, kıyamet sonrası altı haftalık bir oyun alanıdır; dönüşümün, maddenin, belleğin ve zamanın birbirinden ayrılmaz olduğu bir duyarlılığa doğru algısal bir kaymayı oyunlu biçimde tetikler.

Throwback: SANATORIUM presented Erol Eskici’s solo show Unintended Monuments between the dates November 25, 2022 - January 21, 2023. The exhibition brought together Eskici’s works based on “Unintended Monuments”, one of the important points of the conceptual framework that Austrian art historian Aloïs Riegl defined and established in his article titled “The Modern Cult of Monuments: Its Character and Origin” (1903).

SANATORIUM, 25 Kasım 2022 - 21 Ocak 2023 tarihleri arasında Erol Eskici’nin Amaçlanmamış Anıtlar başlıklı kişisel sergisine ev sahipliği yaptı. Sergi Avusturyalı sanat tarihçisi Aloïs Riegl’ın ‘‘Modern Anıt Kültü - Doğası ve Kökeni’’ (1903) adlı makalesinde tanımladığı ve kurduğu kavramsal çatının önemli ayaklarından biri olan ‘‘Amaçlanmamış Anıtlar’’dan hareketle, Eskici’nin üretimlerini bir araya getirdi.

Archive Focus III, SANATORIUM Tophane’de devam ediyor. Yunus Emre Erdoğan’ın pratiği, birçok medyum ile birlikte, çoğunlukla kâğıt yüzeyine füzen, grafit ve pastel gibi kuru malzemelerle bırakılan izler etrafında şekillenir. Kâğıdı hem yüzey hem bellek olarak ele alan sanatçı, çizginin yoğunluğunu, malzemenin direncini ve sürecin fiziksel eylemini bir arayüz olarak kullanır.

Archive Focus III is open for visitors at SANATORIUM Tophane. Yunus Emre Erdoğan’s practice takes shape around the marks made with dry materials like charcoal, graphite, and pastel; mostly on paper, alongside various other mediums. Treating paper as both a surface and a form of memory, the artist uses the intensity of the line, the resistance of the material, and the physical act of making as an interface.

Eser Selen’s review of Eda Sütunç’s solo exhibition “Warm Rehearsal” is published on Design and Culture, The Journal of the Design Studies Forum, Volume 18, Issue 2, (2026). “In a cultural moment increasingly attentive to the politics of care, vulnerability, and the entanglements between bodies and their environments, Eda Sütunç’ exhibition Sıcak Prova (Warm Rehearsal) arrives as a quietly urgent intervention. Sütunç, a multidisciplinary artist and designer from Turkey, has long been preoccupied with the affective and material conditions under which bodies, human and non-human alike, sustain one another. “

Throwback: SANATORIUM presented Luz Blanco’s third solo show in the gallery Floating Images between the dates June 10, 2022 - July 23, 2022. In Floating Images, Luz Blanco questions the flow of images: how they are born, multiply, transform and disappear in the digital networks, and the situation of memory-images.

The artworks merge with possibilities of memory they convey in an unclear interval as ghost-images. In two key moments, between emergence and eclipse, Blanco projects the images into a space they occupy as specters finding a form of hauntology: their anonymous digital material brings out snatches of subjectivity linked to elements of the artist’s biography by accident.

SANATORIUM, Luz Blanco’nun Floating Images başlıklı, galerideki üçüncü kişisel sergisine 10 Haziran - 23 Temmuz 2022 tarihlerinde ev sahipliği yaptı. Luz Blanco, Floating Images [Süzülen Görüntüler]’de görsellerin akışını sorgular: Nasıl doğdukları, çoğaldıkları, dönüştükleri, dijital ağlarda nasıl kayboldukları ve hafıza görüntülerinin bu bağlamdaki durumu üzerine düşünür.

Çalışmalar, hayalet-imgeler olarak belirsiz bir aralıkta aktardıkları bellek olasılıklarıyla birleşiyor. Blanco, ortaya çıkma ve tutulma arasındaki iki önemli anda, görüntüleri bir musallatoloji biçimi bulan hayaletler olarak işgal ettikleri bir alana yansıtıyor: İşlerin anonim dijital materyalleri tesadüfen sanatçının biyografisine bağlanan öznellik anlarını ortaya çıkarıyor.

Throwback: Gizem Akkoyunoğlu’s second solo exhibition entitled “Where Do YouStand?” held between January 24 – March 1, 2020 at SANATORIUM, treats the subject “purgatory” in which human has been being conceptually lost inside from past to present. The exhibition consisting of segments which render the human self unique aims at creating a space of confrontation with timeless elements that do not carry any geographical data.

Gizem Akkoyunoğlu, “Nerede Duruyorsun?” başlığını taşıyan, 24 Ocak – 1 Mart 2020 tarihlerinde SANATORIUM’da gerçekleşen ikinci kişisel sergisinde, geçmişten günümüze insanın kavram olarak içinde kaybolduğu “araf” ı konu alır. İnsan benliğini biricik kılan segmentlerden oluşan sergi; zamansız, herhangi bir coğrafi veri taşımayan öğelerle bir yüzleşme alanı yaratmayı amaçlar.
