Do Ho Suh (Do Ho Suh) wore down his fingerprints rubbing the walls of a house he had to vacate, inscribing himself into the work as one final act of farewell.​
​
Suh works in weightless fabric and layered paper, immortalising the places he has lived in into translucent, moveable forms and imprints. Every mark is a memory caught between preservation and departure. ​

Having worked with STPI for nearly two decades, Do Ho Suh () has been one of our longest-standing collaborators. His first retrospective at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA) brings together over 500 works, including his gelatin thread drawings and the Rubbing/Loving series, where STPI itself becomes both subject and surface.

On the occasion of the Opening Day, our Executive Director Emi Eu spoke on how art came into being. The conversation continues in the studio, where our print and papermakers will lead classes inspired by the techniques central to Suh’s practice in the coming days.

During his residency, Eko Nugroho (Eko Nugroho) observed the ways we move through the world, as a self-proclaimed “monster” on the watch. He savoured the sights and sounds of Singapore, and turned these encounters into art.

In parallel with a major exhibition at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea (MMCA), Suh’s solo presentation at STPI’s Frieze Seoul booth will feature a selection of recent works on paper from his 2026 residency, including his signature thread drawings.

Eko Nugroho (Eko Nugroho) embraced the freedom of expression that emerged in Indonesia’s post-Reformasi era of the late 1990s, developing a creative language unmistakably his own. In that period, comic books, pop art and street culture poured into Indonesia—influences that continue to shape his work today.

Beneath his larger-than-life characters lies socio-political commentary, and among them, iconic masked figures that speak to disguise, conformity and the need to escape it.
His latest body of work, made during his second residency at STPI, brings his world to Singapore.

Few knew Zarina this way.
She adored talking to museum guards and gallery receptionists, and remembered all their names. She also loved indulging in chocolate ice cream at night.

Curator and Zarina’s former studio manager, Sarah Burney (Sarah Burney), reflects on the artist in a memorial poem, in the way she knows best—through her own words.
Walk through the exhibition one last time with Sarah, alongside an excerpt of her poem.
