In the summer of 1966, Saab started mounting the new V4-engine in the 96 and 95, instead of the old two-stroke engine. The four-stroke engine extended the model's lifespan, and it wasn't long before the people simply called it the Saab V4.

It the new issue of Saab Classic Cars, you can read an enjoyable article about a roadtrip in a Saab 96 V4 from 1977. It's a pleasant drive through the region Småland, accompanied by freewheeling, the engine's gentle hum, and the razor-sharp precision of the column shifter.

It's now possible to order the magazine in two versions, English and Swedish. If this test turns out well, there will be more English editions in the future – but it all comes down to you. Order your copy now at Saab Car Museums webshop!

Sunday June 21 marked the 80th birthday of rally icon Per Eklund. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to one of the sport’s most respected competitors, celebrated not least for his success at the wheel of Saab rally cars.

Museum curator Peter Bäckström joined the celebrations in Arvika and presented Per with a painting showing him and Björn Cederberg in a Saab 96 V4 during the 1976 Swedish Rally. The artwork will soon be available in the museum shop — but who could be more deserving of the very first copy than the rally winner himself? 😀

Happy 80th Birthday, Per, and thank you for all the unforgettable memories! 🎉🏁

The staff at Saab Car Museum would like to wish you a very happy and wonderful Midsummer! ☀️

The museum will be closed on Midsummer Eve and Midsummer Day (June 19–20), but will reopen as usual on Sunday, June 21. After that, we will be open every day from 10:00 to 17:00 through September 30!

We hope to welcome many of you to our temporary exhibition The Box at Nova Arena this summer. In the exhibiton you will meet everything from the legendary ”Ursaaben” to the very last cars produced. Discover the story of Saab through iconic two-stroke models, groundbreaking turbo technology, racing cars, concept cars, and unique prototypes. Don't miss this unique opportunity to experience the world's finest collections of Saab vehicles: 115 cars and one Saabo caravan. More cars at one time than ever before!

Swedish Midsummer is one of Sweden's most important and beloved holidays. It celebrates the arrival of summer, and many Swedes leave the cities and gather with family and friends in the countryside, by lakes, or at summer cottages. Ideally, in a classic Saab. 😄

Happy Midsummer!
